My new fave Marvel character. I wasn't at all excited about Guardians of the Galaxy coming out, but I heard it was good and the other Marvel films were pretty cool so I went along. Loved it! Very funny, lots of great action and all the characters were very cool-although for me, Rocket stood out as the most interesting-funny, tough and with some awesome skills but also with a certain amount of pathos.
Although I looked at the film Rocket as well as other artists renditions I didn't want to slavishly copy any of these-this is just my take on the character. I may do another one later-perhaps involving some pun about RPG (Rocket propelled grenade-or maybe flip it with 'grenade propelled Rocket ;)).

Go see it if you can-it's a really fun film-and very impressive visually. Well worth a visit to the Cinema. In the film he's described as an illegal experiment in bio-engineering. It's also implied he has bionic implants, though they don't go into any great detail. When 'Star Lord' calls him a raccoon he doesn't know what one is, though perhaps one was used as the starting point before they 'pulled him apart and put him back together again'.
Groot was very cool and he has emerged as the favorite for the largest number of people I'd say, but I still like Rocket more (just my personal opinion) :) I like all the characters in that film though-the Guardians themselves in particular. I'm just sad I have to wait three years to see the next film.
