most of it is a trade secret, so all i can tell you is it's a particular kind of foam that's been rubberized for durability.
start small! armor is not the place to start. begin with very simple things & work your way up. to make armor & props & more complicated outfits you first need to understand very basic principles of patterning, scaling, & how to translate what is often a 2D image into the 3D world.
