Looks like this season has returned :D
Quite early this year.
1702 grams of delicious Birkenpilz, on one trip home haha
of course, they're still to be cleaned etc.

Oh, they are rather different from the supermarket variety haha
Colourful flavor, very firm texture. I can only recommend them :)

I don't think we have many wild edible varieties here. I live in a fairly hot climate. I have a book on fungus identification with some nice illustrations that tells you what's edible or not

After looking a several images, I believe these are Probably Boletes of some sort.
Unfortunately I know very little terminology, especially in english.
I just find and eat. That's all. :)

After researching a little more, I conclude that these are in fact of the genus Leccinum. :)

Never tried them or seen these breed of mushroom look like small Portobello to me.

Ah, these are a completely different species.
The reproductive organ is tube shaped and fine, in contrast to the lips of the Portobello.
These are only wild, so they can only be bought pickled/dried unless thy grow in you region haha

I see well their is I am not sure how big a difference between the Us Midwest and Europe besides being oceans apart, but good to no, and likely 13 different sexes to the species as well.
