Author's note: The peregrine falcon's hunting dive makes it the fastest animal on earth. Nyxis's friends, family, and associates selected this stone bird to perch on her tombstone because it was her favorite animal. Nyxis grew up with a peregrine falcon as a family pet, but it died of old age while she was away.
