Item #184: IMAGE: Design a sci-fi movie poster with the stars played by Misha Collins and the Queen of England. You may not use existing altered media images. It must be drawn or painted (digitally painted is acceptable). - 62 Points
GISHWHES is an international scavenger hunt that goes on once a year for a week. I help out my sister who tries to sign up for it every year and it's always crazy but a lot of fun. :) The shadowy creature in the back is my interpretation of this year's GISHWHES mascot, an elephant/octopus hybrid called the Elopus.
AUGH… GISHWHES. ALWAYS COMES AND KILLS ME AT THE LAST MINUTE. I had 24 hours to do a 20 hour piece... *Cry* This poster… so much sleep deprivation. T__T I had a lot of fun with this, though! I definitely tried to push my art a lot more since I didn't get a chance to draw much last year when I took the 3D Animation program.

LAWL Sadly, not once did I think that. All I was thinking was to get the poster done in time before GISHWHES ended and still do an amazing piece. It was a difficult time for me because my style is currently transitioning into a new, better style, so it was tough trying to work on a poster, on a deadline, while trying to figure out what I wanted my art to look like. I think it turned out really well, though. I did all this while blasting the Pacific Rim soundtrack over and over again to keep myself motivated/prevent me from falling asleep.
But in regards to your question, it's not the first time I've drawn Misha and the Queen, so it wasn't a shocker. XD I think the first year I helped out, I felt what I was drawing was pretty ridiculous (and it's so ugly now I doubt I can bear to look at it). That was back when I was just starting to take Commercial Animation, so my drawing skills were all kinds of awful. Ahaha.
Thanks very much, man. :> Means a lot!

Well I bet you are now one of the very few people in this world who can say that you have drawn Misha and the Queen on a poster, so I say that's an accomplishment on it's own. And I would love to see the older picture and compare how much you have improved.
And no problem. Cx

Haha. That's okay.
As for comparison, this one isn't nearly as old as the first one I did, but it is still two years old and... and... it hurts to look at for me. LAWL

Gives you some perspective as to how much I've grown as an artist. Aha.

Yeahhh. Like, I don't have anything against anime style (which still influences my drawings quite a bit, in the eyes in particular), but I've reached that point in my development where I need to start drawing my humans more defined. I still like the anime style, and it played a huge part of my development, but I need to move on and grow. So while things like my anatomy has gotten better over the years, things like my human faces weren't developing a whole lot. I kept hiding behind how much anime faces can cheat real muscle structure, so I took the leap and started working on more detail and definition in the face (noses in particular, smaller-ish eyes, etc.). My 3D program I took helped a lot with that because we had to sculpt faces and... you can't really get away with doing anime faces well in 3D. Forced me to learn and now I can't go back. Gotta grow, man. Gotta grow! The never ending story of an artist. Haha.
