I shoot a lot of bees. It needs to be fast fast!
And I might be even more old school... I only use the center focus point for AF, and focus and reframe to compose a shot. I only use AF to get close, then rock back and forth or twist the lens after reframing to focus by eye so exactly what I want is crispy. That's why the camera's always configured to take AF out of the loop when actually shooting. I don't like it's decisions, and I'd rather do it manually. Then I can only blame myself. I'm using ancient film techniques, yo! Not that I ever shot film. I just like things as manual as possible.
Of course this workflow doesn't work so well for selfies, but lazy so fuck it. :) A nice smile is a nice smile. I have plenty of others that are technical. :)

Ah I see.
I actually think that many people are overdoing it with perfect sharpness these days. The older lenses were beautifully soft and had a lot of character. I just think that in a portrait sharpness is important to add an acutal focus to the image. The first thing you usually look at is the eyes.
