"Right, that's it for today class! Take care and have a good weekend. August, can you stay back, I need a word.
August packed away her class notes, and approached the front desk after the last few of her classmates had vacated the room.
"August, if you've got the time this weekend, I could really use your help with a really important job. Your terraforming skills are amongst the best I've seen, so I would really like you to do it."
"Sure Sir, what's up?"
"There's a planet out on the far side of the Iylyrk system. Tiny little world, barely a few thousand kilometres across. They're killing themselves with over-industrialisation, they've turned their planet into a plantless wasteland."
"Wait what? They cut down all their trees?"
"Almost! So many that it's destroying their ecosystems, anyway. CO2 levels are through the roof, planetary warming is melting everything, and pollution levels are absolutely hazardous."
"Alright, this sounds pretty urgent, what do I do?"
"Alright there little guys, don't worry I'm not going to hurt anyone! I heard you were having problems with lack of trees. These might be a little bigger than you're used to but they'll sort your problems out in no time!"
----
Seeing as we're in the month of August, it would be improper to go without drawing her. Here she is helping out a little world who over the years have cut down too many trees. And while they're trying to fix things now, it's all a bit late for them. Fortunately a distress signal was reached by a passing Araltian and sent back to the planet for people to deal with.
August loves terraforming, normally starting with planets that are completely useless and inhospitable and turning them into garden planets, sometimes even literally. For those particularly skilled in it in Araltys it's a full time job, and a very useful one at that. Tiny worlds are a lot of use to people of all sizes. I wonder if we can get her to do a thing or two about mars!

Really impressive, I'd always wondered what Araltians contribute to the galactic community! I asked about that on your Tumblr a while back, but I wasn't expecting their contribution to be this impressive... though I probably should've, it's hard for Araltians not to be awe inspiring.
Thanks so much for the comment! I'd favourite the comment if I could.
I've been sitting on the Tumblr questions for a while as I've had a few other things that need my attention, but that one is one I really want to answer.
Araltians have good relationships with most of the nearby alien species, as let's be honest, you're not going to start insulting a race that's a million times bigger than you are you? So what they do is actually trade a lot with other species. They can use the size differences to their advantage too, as they can trade nanotechnology (which might still be like.. building sized supercomputers to the species making them), for things that are useful for them. Like if they need a LOT of a specific resource they can get that, or if they want a nearby planet terraforming they can do that etc. Heck, they can even introduce new planets into their system for them.
They can also help planets that are in trouble too. Deflecting meteors, or comets avoiding collisions and things, moving a planet which has gotten too close to it's sun as the star expands, etc, etc. Terraforming is a big business for Araltians.
The only thing is they have to have explicit permission from the planet, and they're not allowed to help out in any wars. For example a planet can't ask.. "Oh! can you go smush that planet over there? They're a bunch of idiots!" as an Araltian would have to refuse. What CAN be done there but it requires a lot of permissions from both sides due to the risks involved is actually just.. moving the entire planet. Like if two nearby planets were squabbling and one just wanted to be "anywhere but here" they can actually relocate the entire planet.
So they do quite a lot. Sometimes for business, sometimes for trade, sometimes for PR, and most of the time, just to be nice and help out those that need it.

Just thinking about how interaction would have to work at these scales is pretty gripping, I admit! The scales of technology were one thing I'd really wondered about. Now it makes sense that Araltian electronics are so advanced, when any made by other species can be used as nanotech by them! I figured Araltians had to make major contributions just to equal the sheer amount of resources they must need. You've said before that they'll use Earth sized planets as farmland, but that must be rare, since that means taking a planet that could be colonized by an ordinary species. Hmm... Are there Araltian colonies? You've said their population is low, but any planet they'd want would be massive and high-gravity enough to be useless to anyone else.
Recycling things made for Araltys must be serious business. ...An Araltian space-travel bracelet could be converted into a gigantic starship for any other species, couldn't it? That really shouldn't seem as funny as it is.

Yeah, it's honestly one of my favourite things about thinking about the whole Araltian species as a whole. Their history and how they've grown so much over the millions of years. And it's also fun to think of their early space expeditions, expecting to find alien life the same scale as them, and.. nothing even coming close.
Yeah they've actually colonised a few planets, but Araltys was the original home. The major planets are limited to about three, but if someone were to find an uncolonised planet in unclaimed space, they can actually terraform it and make it into their own planet if they so wish. So a lot of Araltians do that, find a useless planet, and either terraform it themselves, or pay someone like August to do it for them, and turn it into their own little garden world, build a "little" house on it and they've got the whole planet to themselves.
But they've helped worlds with all sorts of things. Like if a world has a harsh desert, they can help reclaim that as habitable soil where things can grow, or move large amounts of water if a colony has a shortage with no lakes or such, or even carve out rivers and such.
As for recycling, yeah it's a huge business. The more messy things like scrapyards and recycling plants are often done off world, on rocky planets designed specifically for that. To Araltians, rocks and metals are of high abundance, card boards and papers were common when they were smaller, became rare, when they started getting too big,and have become common again, with off-planet worlds designed for growing forests for the usage of papers and wood. And recycling of such materials is extremely common. It's the same with food stuffs, some planets are turned into large farms, Araltian farmers occupying the entire planet. And if it's a livestock farm they bring Araltian life forms onto farms like we would sheep or chickens.
The advantage of being a spacefaring species is that there are countless billions of planets. The smallest percentage of which are inhabited, so even despite their colossal size, they're not short of space.
