Don't ask me what kind of spider this is because i don't know. i just thought it looked neat. and no i don't think it is a black widow.

I googled black widow, and all the images that came up looked very similar to this. It really does look like one.

it aint a black widow thay have an hour glass shape on thir belly not on top it lookes mork like a fiddler spider eather way thay are deadly so dont let it bite you

yeah i know that about a black widow. i have had to deal with a lot of them so -nods- well i hate spiders so dont worry i dont plan to get bit.

i dont mess around with spiders any more i got bit by a brown lecluse (how ever you spell it) when i was 12 it almost killed me

i have killed a few of them. there all ugly sept for some.. i dont wanna get near a Spitting spider... i dont have photos of that kind but there white and spit deadly spines into there pray..

hmm so there are more than one type of spitting spider.. well the one i saw was on TV. Somewhere in the rain forest or some place heh.

Yeah it looks like a member of the same family that the black widow comes from. But eh what do I know? XD I hate spiders anyhow...just about anything with more than 4 legs hehe

Hehe mine's pretty lazy too but still gets playful with random stuff. But man what sucks is here we have what they call house centipedes...Man you never have a peaceful nights sleep but when you find one of those crawling on you while you sleep.

Glad I ain't the only one. Man the last time I stood up and actually yelled "Hey you can crawl around in my room but would you at least be decent enough to let me get a good night's sleep!" I knew then that I'd nearly hit rock bottom...I was talking to the bugs in my room that I couldn't see.

Looks to me like a "Latrodectus variolus" AKA "Northern Black Widow". Where did you say this was taken? Definitely related to the Black Widow. http://bugguide.net/node/view/48096

Just ran across this. Given your location, this appears to be an immature female Latrodectus hesperus or Western Black Widow.

The younger females are rather colorful, before they molt into the more familiar Black Widow colors.

Could also be Latrodectus mactans. Might be a male...but can't see the palps clearly.

A widow for sure though.
