Patrols increasing!
Even with the galactic government closing in on the Pirate Queen, the Pirate Armada attacks are increasing. Striking from their hidden bases they seek to get their queen back. The Galactic Government is also increasing its patrols due to a cult starting to emerge, one that is believed to of been around for a while.
I stumbled around, my mind racing as I started to think. I turned and looked behind me to see if there was a portal or something. Nothing just the same dense fog, swampy like ground and forest made of the shadow trees stretching all around. There was no portal at all, no sign on how I got here.
My mind raced as questions popped into my head. ‘Why was I in the Void? How do I get out?’ were some of the more general questions. I turned around again, as I looked behind me, not seeing anything. The cries of the alien creatures continued in the fog, I hated to see what they looked like.
I started to walk, in a random direction, just not sure where to go. I couldn’t really put down any land marking, due to this fog. I continued to move, and sighed a little as the fog started to get lighter. I looked around, seeing that I seem to of walked into a clearing of some kind, with ruins. They seemed to be of a villa of some kind.
I kept my distance, not knowing what could be in there. But it got me curious, as to why there was a villa here; I mean this is the Void isn’t it. ‘I don’t know anything anymore. I mean, I thought the Void was just nothingness. Even when Kiri told me about it, I thought it could have been just her imagination’ I said as I come to accept that, I thought with a closed mind before. Not accepting even something like this, but here I was in the Void starting at the ruins of a Villa.
I turned and sat on a ruined wall, as I just sighed. I looked around, glad a bit that this part the fog was lighter. But for now, I just thought how to get back to that planet. I have to continue my search for the others, plus I know that if I helped her, Rita could help me with that. ‘If she keeps her word that is’ I thought to myself.
I don’t know how long I sat there, could be minutes or hours, all I know is that I hope time runs differently here. But not too differently, don’t want to go back to that planet and find like five hundred years have passed or something. I shook my head, not wanting to believe that.
The roar of an alien creature echoed in the fog, while this was not new, this one was different. I listened again as I heard it roar, and then I know why it was different. It was coming closer to me! I looked around, trying to pin point the location of where it was coming from.
I turned and looked to see some sort of creature coming towards me; it looked like moving shadows, with several red eyes as it charged. I could make out at least some legs, but that was enough for me, as I took off, trying to get away from this thing.
I know I never mentioned this, but I can honestly say that I haven’t done much running in a while. Which would more than likely mean this thing can catch up with me. Now I am not out of shape, just not use to doing it in a long while. Not sure how long until I will have to stop, but the roaring sound of the shadow creature made me push on.
‘To escape or to find some sort of help here’ I thought to myself, as I leapt over logs made of shadows. I slid between two of the shadow trees that seem to of grown close enough the trunks had touched, pushing one at an angle. I only smiled a bit, as I put metres behind me and the trees, as I heard the beast slam into them and roar out as it more than likely try to dislodge itself.
My feet continued to carry me forward, running, not stopping as I tried to put as much distance between me and the creature. My ears filled with the pounding of my heart, as I panted, the roars of the creature starting to become distant. I allowed myself to smile as I felt like I could get away, but the ground gave out under me as I think I fell into a ditch.
I pushed myself towards a ledge, again making me just wonder how strange the Void is. I panted as I pushed myself up against the damp group of the ledge. The creature was getting closer, I could hear it running. I held my breath as it seemed to of stopped running and started to walk around. I guess it was searching and sniffing, trying to pick up my scent.
I paused as I heard a noise; up ahead the sound of what I think was engines slowly moved over head. I looked and saw a ship, a scout by the looks of it, as it swept the ground with a powerful light, cutting through to fog of the void. It was brown and black, in the shape of a spearhead, with part of the shaft still at the end. I thought I could try and get its attention, but my hopes were crushed as it flew off. I heard the roaring again, as the creature seemed to of taken a pause in its search.
My mind raced as I tried to think of a way to get away again, or distract it. Looking down at the ground, I reached down and picked it up. It was weird like picking up the ground of a swap, and shadows at the same time. The stuff didn’t have any smell, at least what I can smell, but a creature native to the Void might smell it, and if I am lucky it can overpower the creature’s nose.
Picking up another handful, I plan to at least temporary blind it as well. Well, that’s the plan anyway, I thought as I stood up. I started to run again, getting up the other side of the ditch. I turned to see the creature, make a lunge, only to fall in the ditch itself. Strange, it seems a bit deeper now. I shook my head as I waited until it looked up, it roared before I threw one handful at what I guessing was its nose. My theory seem to be right as it started to almost gag a bit, taking this chance I threw the other handful at its eyes and then turned and ran.
I heard the creature roar loudly, making me guess I just angered it even more. I pushed on, dodging through the trees, jumping over logs. Pushing myself as hard as I can, knowing that it will be up and come after me again. I could hear it in the distance as it roared and seemed to try and find where I went.
I panted as I rested against a tree, just hoping that it didn’t have time to get the stuff off and come after me again. I bent over as I tried to regain my breath, but I stood up straight as I heard the roaring again. Turning around, I can hear it coming a bit closer again. Groaning a little, I took off again, running.
My legs were starting to hurt, my paws pushing into the swampy ground as I ran, making me glad I don’t wear shoes, as I would have lost them at the start of this run. I made a mental note to start at least doing some running and little bit of work out to keep myself in shape, when I manage to find Freya. See if she can turn on of the rooms on the new deck into a gym or something.
I looked ahead, and saw the fog starting to get lighter; as I smiled a bit guessing I was getting to a less dense area. I slid to a halt as I saw the villa, the same ones from when the creature started to chase me. “You got to be kidding” I said as I looked over the ruins, seems like I ran in circles.
I heard the roaring coming closer again, as I turned around. The creature must have thought it best to try and get me to get back here. With no way to go or to get out of the void, I decided on the last option. I picked up a bit of the crumbled wall around the villa, if I was going to fight, its best I use something like this.
I turned and faced the direction, as it slowly made its way into the clearing. Its eyes locked on me as it came closer. I stood my ground, as I pulled my arm back and threw the chunk of wall at it. It sailed through the air, before hitting the creature on the head. I smiled a little, hoping that would have bought me some time. But the smile vanished as it roared and charged again. I closed my eyes waiting for what was going to come.
“Seems like, I found you just in time big brother” I heard a familiar voice say. I opened my eyes as I saw the beast held to the ground by something. “Behind you” the voice said again, as I turned and looked around. My smiled returned as I saw Kiri standing on the wall and smiling at me. She looked a bit older than last I saw her, about in her early teens at least. I could see that she was still in her half succubus/half kitsune form.
“Kiri, how did you know I was here?” I asked, forgetting about the creature for the moment as I walked towards her. “Oh, Darkie had given me some training, before she vanished. I can enter the void and leave, just had to be old enough to do it” she said as I bent down and gave her a hug. “Thanks for finding me, Kiri” I said. “Not a problem, but I think we should let Bob handle what was chasing you” she said, as I turned and saw the creature being lifted up into the fog. “Bob, who’s Bob?” I asked. “That’s bob” Kiri said pointing up.
I looked up into the fog above us; I stared at the thing up there, not believing that something like that could exist. I mean I could see it, but my mind refused to admit its existence. I looked away quickly, feeling as if I was starting to lose my sanity if I looked at it too long. All I could see was an eye and tentacles that was all I could make out.
“I know that look, Darkie said, Magicka got that when she introduced her to Bob. Seems like people like you and her refuse to believe Bob exists” Kiri said as she looked back at me. “Yeah, I think so. So ah, Kiri do you know how to get me out of here?” I asked. I smiled a little as she nods and returned the smile, “Sure do. Just close your eyes.”
I nod as I did so, closing my eyes. I felt a strange feeling wash over me, “Ok you can open again.” I did as I turned and saw I was in the forest on the planet again, closer to the clearing, seeing that night had fallen. "Thanks, Kiri, if you want to you can hang around” I said looking at her. “Sure, need a day or two to rest before I make a trip home again” she said with a smile.
I nod as I turned and saw the berries Rita, asked me to get. Gathering them, I turned and walked back to the clearing, the Pirate Queen still there. “Took, you long enough hope you didn’t report me in” she said. “No, just had a bit of a problem. And before you ask, this is my little sister Kiri” I said. “Always nice, to meet one of Jack’s friends” Kiri said with a smile as she bowed a little. Rita just nodded as I brought the berries to her.
I was just glad to be out of the void, though I wonder what happens tomorrow.
And yeah, Kiri is back until the end of this arc.
