Meeting Tabitha St. Germain, (Voice of Rarity and Derpy), had a great deal of significance for me. First off is how she is the voice of Rarity, one of my pal
Nishi's favorite characters, and second how she was the one who did both renditions of Derpy Hooves.
I purchased two tickets so I could get this work signed along with a special work in which
Nishi had drawn exclusively for her. Of course I also brought a copy of me and Nishi's collaborative work, Captain Scuttles for her as well.
Tabitha was beyond elated at the adorable drawing in which Nishi did just for her. She was even more delighted when she learned we made a copy of it for her to keep, too! I spent a brief moment discussing how Nishi exemplified Rarity in both the areas of Generosity and Inspiration. She seemed very moved by all I had to share about how Nishi was the one who believed in my work enough to collaborate with me to make Captain Scuttles. Perhaps, if Nishi feels up to it, he'll share the image in which he drew just for her. :)
Next I discussed with her how so many within the special needs community related with her original rendition of Derpy Hooves. The highlight of what I told her being that the original showed a more true example of how someone with special needs will do their very best to do all they can to be a productive member of society. She didn't have a whole lot to say back in regard to this but was definitely touched by the image that I had her sign along with the copy I made for her to keep.
While discussing Derpy I also made note of how I relate with her due to her eyes. I then showed her what my real eyes looked like. This prompted her to discuss fellow show star Lee Tockar. She noted how Lee's vision was like "Swiss Cheese" but that he was still able to find a way to do art through finding ways to capitalize on where his vision was strongest to make precision designs. I then shared how I had learned that Lee was someone I really wanted to meet since learning at last year's BronyCon that he was visually impaired. Hopefully, one day, I will be able to talk to him about it. :)
We also learned that kids got free autographs! So my son, Ethan, walked away with a special picture in which Tabitha had just for those who had nothing for her to sign. It now resides in my son's collection.

Wow that is both a beautiful picture and story. Tabitha, like you said, sounds like a wonderful person indeed. (And I liked first-edition derpy better too, she seemed more genuine while second version made me feel like it was playing on the "blonde girl" stereotype.) I'm glad she liked the fanart as well. It's so sweet. I do hope you get to meet this Lee fellow sometime too.
Also I'm rather curious, what was on the special picture? X3 I'm a curious one sorry.
Overall I'm glad you had fun and I'm still super happy your panel was a success.

Thanks for showing additional support for original Derpy. So many have told me how she went from a character who seemed honestly clumsy as she tried her best to go beyond her disability to being the "Dumb Blonde". The latter being a major insult to those of us with special needs who only wish to see more inclusion of those like us who are not of the societal stereotype.
If I were to be invited back to do this panel I'd focus on Derpy, Snips and Snails, and maybe other characters who exemplify individuals with special needs. Though that is if I am invited back to put on the presentation.
Nishi's picture was very adorable. It featured Rarity at the forefront all happy to be acknowledged by her friends Fluttershy and Spike. It was very colorful and Tabitha loved it.
Since the signed picture was a gift for Nishi I am not at liberty to share it. But if he gives me permission I'll share the original. It's all up to him. :)

Hehe I'm commenting this pretty late!
This is the picture Yosheo got Tabitha to sign:

It's a picture of Rarity being adored by Spike and Fluttershy. X3 Cause I adore Fluttershy and Rarity together, and know Spike is into her on the show, and I figured Tabitha's the type to like bein' liked by others. B-)

Aw, it's neat hearing how this all went! (: And it's interesting she knows someone else involved with their own vision issues. I had no idea Rarity was the one that also voiced Derpy! It was neat hearing both versions - had no clue it was her but that means great voice acting! :D
I posted the picture of the signed version on my tumblr!:

Hehe, thanks again for getting it signed for me. :3 I'm glad you and Ethan got other pictures signed too!

I didn't know Tabitha did Derpy either. Though I did a little research before the convention and gasped with surprise upon learning it was her.
It's like how I learned how many characters Tara Strong voices or voiced. She's Twilight Sparkle in Pony but she also does Timmy Turner on Fairly Oddparents. Another surprise was how she does Bubbles on The Powerpuff Girls.
It's adorable how many little boy characters are voiced by female voice actors. Cathy Weseluck does Spike, Tara Strong does Timmy Turner, and I know the list goes on and on. I'm pretty sure the original Ash Ketchum was voiced by a lady, too! :)

That question is definitely a valid one. Especially since I myself am not exactly what could be considered a hardcore Brony. :)
For what I know Derpy was only in The Last Roundup. She was voiced two different ways by Tabitha St. Germain.
Outside of this particular episode Ms. Hooves has had no other speaking roles. She has been a cameo character along with a sort of Where's Waldo? character.
