So there's a HC backstory mainly for how I rp Wilson from Don't Starve here: http://wetwilson.tumblr.com/
Basically all we have to go on is he's 30 and his family doesn't talk to him anymore.
These are little flashes of memories from Wilson's POV, but it is fairly subjective in interpretation, and in some cases my art hasn't been clear enough to properly display an idea so here's the rundown.
1: Mother in the 1890s has postpartum depression, untreated, it starts the long spiral of events and her general attitude towards Wilson.
2: Wilson's dad is a successful business man, and is rarely home. When he is, Wilson is told to play by himself and keep out of dad's study.
3: His mother tends to grow frustrated with him more often than not. She gets overwhelmed by anything he does, even his apologies, and often ends in a frustrated temple rubbing "Wilson, please just go play"
4: On the rare occasion his father was spending time with him it was in the office, where he taught him "how a man should behave" and often talked about how women "liked" to be treated, and used his secretaries as an example. He smoked a lot of cigars, as per the typical 1900s gentleman's room.
5: Eventually Wilson started attending college for business. But he got fed up with trying to be something he wasn't, and cashed in his trust fund to pay his way through his Biology and Chemistry degrees. (He funded his more current research with the same funds and various stock investments) His parents found out, and when he said "take me or leave me" they were quick to choose the latter. Effectively he said his goodbyes that day, and chose to remain steadfast in his proclimation, but it always stung to know they didn't even try to convince him to stay.
6&7: Now on the island, Wilson often watches the stars as a semblance of familiarity (shout out to the multiplayer event hur) but he's often struck with the lingering thought; "No one will even notice I'm missing."
But Wilson is an optimist, and a realist in a sense, so he tries to keep these thoughts and feelings to a minimum. No sense crying over spilled milk.
