I never think about fashion. I never think about what colours go with what other colours and what shirt goes with what tie or any of that. I see something I think is good, I buy it. I don't really care, and the same goes for what I wear in day to day life. I grab the first thing that's appropriate and throw it on. So it goes.
I had to look good for the interview though, so today I tried to put a little bit of thought into what I was wearing. I put on a formal white shirt and trousers, things I didn't really wear much, and probably hadn't really worn actively since high school. Slipped into some smart looking shoes. My black hair was pretty long for a formal look, about midlength, but I didn't like to cut it much, so I'd tried to style it so that at least didn't get in my eyes. All I needed now was a tie.
I rifled through the top drawer of the cupboard, where I kept the ties. I was about 6 feet tall, so it wasn't hard to grab them. I was about to put on any old black tie when a flash of bright orange caught my eye. I reached out and pulled it out of its hiding place, and gave a wry grin.
It was a gaudy tie, somewhat. The bright orange was complimented by deep blue arrow pointing upwards. I'd made it myself, as a bit of a tribute to a favourite character of mine, but I hadn't really gone around wearing it since wearing ties wasn't really my style. I debated whether or not to actually put it on. Would it show that I was fun loving but still serious about work, or that I didn't actually think much of the job I was applying for?
It couldn't hurt, I thought, slipping it round my neck. As I did it up, I couldn't help but feel a little bit of pride. Despite the fact I didn't wear it much, the tie did mean something to me personally. I finished tying the knot and slid it into place underneath my neck. It was a bit long, but I was just about ready.
probably stupid to do this after the fact of uploading it but i felt like the best way to motivate myself to write it was to split it up into chunks using the pic as a guideline, sooo......7 parter story?
i am a narcissistic fuck and this is me, in the drawing and the story
