Maybe a lesson in Childhood 101 is all I needed. I can only wonder what awaits me today.

My mind swims as I rest on my tummy and stare out the window, “What was that flower? What properties did it have that even Utsukushi couldn’t analyze fully? I just don’t get it. I wonder if I’ll more of them?” Hopping up from my window view, I waddle out of the Main Hall. “Ouch!” Glancing up at who or what I bumped into and thus caused my trip to the floor, “Utsu-neechan?” I sigh, a bit of comfort restored to my psyche.
Utsukushi holds her hand out, “Well hello, Caiden-kun,” and lifts me to my feet. “Where are you trying to go in such a hurry?”
Smiling, I wrap my arms around her waist, “I was just….hehe….” and release her seconds later, “I was wondering if there were more flowers similar to one that we saw yesterday.”
“Caiden,” She chuckles as she releases me from our hug, “don’t worry about that.”
Crossing my arms, I plop down on the carpet and stare up at her, “Utsu-neechan, I wanna know more about that flower though. It was super interesting and I hate that I…we couldn’t figure out more about it. It’s not fair.”
She nods as she lifts me into her arms and sits on the couch with me cuddled close in her lap, “You know, Caiden-kun,” Scanning my confounded countenance, she rubs my ears inching from beneath my black crown of hair, “you just need to relax that little head of yours.” Giggling, she lays me on my back, “I think that Caiden-kun needs a lesson in Childhood 101: Tickle Central! I shall be your teacher,” She chuckles as she flexes her hands, and holds them centimeters away from my sides, “Mrs. Utsukushi Wanda. Class is in session!”
“UTSU-NEECHAN! HA! HA! HA! HA!” My laughter echoes through the Main Hall as my sides ache from the assailment being delivered them. “HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! UTSU-NEECHAN! UTSU-NEECHAN STOP! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! TICKLING! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! STOP! HA! HA! HA! HA! TICKLING ME! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! STOP TICKLING ME, UTSU-NEECHAN!”
Utsukushi chuckles as she lifts me onto her shoulders, “Well, I think I’ve made my point, huh, Caiden-kun?” Glancing out the window, she smiles at the lavender skies greeting her before her eyes fall on me, “So, what are you thinking about now, Caiden-kun?”
“Hummm…..” Giggling, I rub my chin as I cuddle into my live recliner and glance up at her, “Will you read to me?”
“Of course, what would you like me to read?”
“Aesop’s Fables, Utsu-neechan! I really love those stories.” My eyes widen with glee as the book flickers into existence in my lap, a puff of white smoke trailing close behind. Smiling, I hold the book up to her face, “Will you read me some of the stories please?”
Utsukushi nods as she takes the book from my grasp and ruffles my hair, “Of course, Caiden-kun. I’ll read to you until you fall asleep.”
Scoffing, I punch her chest and glance up to her once comfy again, “I’m not gonna go to sleep, Utsu-neechan!”
“Hehe,” Opening the book, she kisses my forehead, then adjusts me so we both can view as she reads, “We shall see, Caiden-kun, we shall see. Now, on with the stories……”
The Ant and the Chrysalis
An Ant nimbly running about in the sunshine in search of food came
across a Chrysalis that was very near its time of change. The
Chrysalis moved its tail, and thus attracted the attention of the Ant,
who then saw for the first time that it was alive. “Poor, pitiable
animal!” cried the Ant disdainfully. “What a sad fate is yours!
While I can run hither and thither, at my pleasure, and, if I wish,
ascend the tallest tree, you lie imprisoned here in your shell, with
power only to move a joint or two of your scaly tail.” The Chrysalis
heard all this, but did not try to make any reply. A few days after,
when the Ant passed that way again, nothing but the shell remained.
Wondering what had become of its contents, he felt himself suddenly
shaded and fanned by the gorgeous wings of a beautiful Butterfly.
“Behold in me,” said the Butterfly, “your much-pitied friend! Boast
now of your powers to run and climb as long as you can get me to
listen.” So saying, the Butterfly rose in the air, and, borne along
and aloft on the summer breeze, was soon lost to the sight of the
Ant forever.
“Appearances are deceptive.”
Utsukushi turns the page and smiles at me, “So, how are you liking it so far?”
“Keeping reading please and don’t stop, okay?” Smiling, I cuddle close and purr contently.
“Alright, Caiden-kun.”
The Ant and the Dove
AN ANT went to the bank of a river to quench its thirst, and
being carried away by the rush of the stream, was on the point of
drowning. A Dove sitting on a tree overhanging the water plucked
a leaf and let it fall into the stream close to her. The Ant
climbed onto it and floated in safety to the bank. Shortly
afterwards a birdcatcher came and stood under the tree, and laid
his lime-twigs for the Dove, which sat in the branches. The Ant,
perceiving his design, stung him in the foot. In pain the
birdcatcher threw down the twigs, and the noise made the Dove
take wing.

……
The Ant and the Grasshopper
In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about,
chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by,
bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the
nest.
“Why not come and chat with me,” said the Grasshopper,
“instead of toiling and moiling in that way?”
“I am helping to lay up food for the winter,” said the Ant,
“and recommend you to do the same.”
“Why bother about winter?” said the Grasshopper; we have got
plenty of food at present.” But the Ant went on its way and
continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no
food and found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants
distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had
collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew:
It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.
……
The Apes and the Two Travelers
TWO MEN, one who always spoke the truth and the other who told
nothing but lies, were traveling together and by chance came to
the land of Apes. One of the Apes, who had raised himself to be
king, commanded them to be seized and brought before him, that he
might know what was said of him among men. He ordered at the
same time that all the Apes be arranged in a long row on his
right hand and on his left, and that a throne be placed for him,
as was the custom among men. After these preparations he
signified that the two men should be brought before him, and
greeted them with this salutation: “What sort of a king do I seem
to you to be, O strangers?' The Lying Traveler replied, “You seem
to me a most mighty king.” “And what is your estimate of those
you see around me?' “These,” he made answer, “are worthy
companions of yourself, fit at least to be ambassadors and
leaders of armies.” The Ape and all his court, gratified with the
lie, commanded that a handsome present be given to the flatterer.
On this the truthful Traveler thought to himself, “If so great a
reward be given for a lie, with what gift may not I be rewarded,
if, according to my custom, I tell the truth?' The Ape quickly
turned to him. “And pray how do I and these my friends around me
seem to you?' “Thou art,” he said, “a most excellent Ape, and all
these thy companions after thy example are excellent Apes too.”
The King of the Apes, enraged at hearing these truths, gave him
over to the teeth and claws of his companions.
……
The Ass and His Driver
AN ASS, being driven along a high road, suddenly started off and
bolted to the brink of a deep precipice. While he was in the act
of throwing himself over, his owner seized him by the tail,
endeavoring to pull him back. When the Ass persisted in his
effort, the man let him go and said, “Conquer, but conquer to
your cost.”
A willful beast must go his own way

Utsukushi sighs as she scans me, “So, whaddya think about my reading now? Is it just as good as my singing?”
Purring, I turn and wrap my arms around her neck, “I really love how you read, Utsu-neechan! You read so well that it makes me seem as though I’m living inside the story and I’m watching the animals talk to each other.” Crawling free of my comfort zone, I plop down adjacent her and smile, “Um…Utsu-neechan, aside from fursons like us, can feral animals talk?”
Utsukushi pulls me into a hug and smiles as she ruffles my hair, “Don’t be silly, Caiden-kun!” Giggling, she sets me in her lap, “The only way ferals would be able to talk would be if a Zentalis, one of us with our advanced abilities, were to use our energy enhancements to perform a speech reception transfer. So, any more questions you have for me, Caiden-kun?”
“Well, our readers would probably want to know more about Zentalis and where they came from.” Giggling, I watch her hand make contact with her forehead seconds after my statement, “Utsu-neechan, what did I do? Why’d you hit yourself.”
Sighing, she scans me close, “Caiden, why must you break the fourth wall?”
“What’s breaking the fourth wall mean?”
“Heh…heh,” Utsukushi pulls me into a hug and rubs my back, “Never mind, Caiden-kun, don’t worry about it. I’ll tell you more about the Zentalis if you want though. You probably would want a refresher as to how you got your abilities anyway, right?”
Nodding, “Yes, please?” I purr and snuggle close into her embrace.
“Alright then, Caiden-kun.” Utsukushi adjusts me in her lap and ruffles my hair, “Zentalis, Caiden-kun as you know, are a special warrior group of enlightened humans or Zentennolists that possess the ability of flight, shadow-space-ation or the ability to bend time and space around the individual, and travel through the temporal rift that forms as a result. Zentalis are also capable of healing and enhanced battle tactics.
Zentalis however are called such because of two unique attributes, one which is called auric shielding. That auric shielding is the cause of my guardians that you saw when I first showed you my powers. Auric shielding varies between different Zentalis, while mine were the guardians, yours is a cat tail-like tendril defensive system. The second unique attribute is granting limited number of people immortality and eternal youth over a certain period of years. You received your abilities due to your assuming your kitten form when you entered this plane of existence after your first life as David Alexanderhaus ended. Now,” She sets me on my feet, “are you satisfied, Caiden-kun?”
Giggling and nodding, I crawl into her lap and smile, hovering a few centimeters from her face, “Yep, I’m satisfied, Utsu-neechan!”
She smiles as she kisses my forehead and sets me in her lap, facing the TV, “I’m glad you’re satisfied, little brother.” Grabbing the remote from between the couch pillows, she turns on the TV and switches to the Movies Plus Channel. “Why don’t we watch a movie, Caiden-kun, would you like that?”
“Yep, how about The Dark Knight?”
“Alright,” Utsukushi scrolls down and selects the movie, “but we’re watching it to the end, no matter how spooky it may get.”
……
When the credits begin rolling, I yawn and crawl toward the back of the couch, “I’m gonna nap now, Utsu-neechan. That was a really good movie. The Joker was super crazy too. I’m really sleepy now though.”
She nods as she lays a blanket over me and kisses my forehead, “Alright, Caiden-kun, go ahead and take your nap. I’ll be right here on the couch when you wake up. Maybe we can make a pizza and some brownies when you wake up.”
Yawning and cuddling into the warmth of the blanket, I smile, “Yeah….that sound’s good. Ahh, nini, Utsu-neechan.”
Utsukushi smiles as I fall into a deep sleep, sucking my thumb, “He’s so cute, I’m glad that he allowed myself to be revealed when he did. I realize now that we were meant for each other.”
