"But the horse isn't on a rope! It's dangerous. It's just a dumb animal, it gets scared and runs away! You don't have helmet! You don't control it! It can kick you in the head!"
Also, lately I've stopped saying "my horse", because that implies I own her as a property. I think white people used to say that about black slaves. I much rather call her my partner, because I think it sounds like the truth, we're pretty much equeals. Don't get me started on "hiearchy in the herd" and such crap - that has nothing to do with the reality the horse is a completely self-conscious being. As any animal.
Also, i started to be a vegetarian. It's uncomfortable, since I like the taste of meat. Damn!

I had the same issue when I got my first horse that I was buying a slave. I came to accept that I owned a slave, well now I own my four donkey slaves. I love my donkeys but they are forced to do what I want aka enslavement.
The thing is we all are slaves. As long as we need to eat and have shelter from the elements we are slaves to the living condition. The more crap that we own the more we are being enslaved by that crap. Enslavement is not having unconditional freedom. You are a slave to your horse. If you like to or not you have to take care of your horse that is enslavement.
The humans that are bought and sold as property are only slaves to the degree that they permit them self to be. They have the ability to say no. Yes they might be severely beaten and or starved to force them to do what they are told to do but they have the ability to say no. There are plenty of really old photos from when slavery was legal in America where a slaves back was really badly scared from hundreds of beatings because the person would out right refuse to do as they where told by the people that tried to force them to do what they wanted. Animals are the same they are slaves only to the degree that they permit them self's to be. There are plenty of stories of animals that are outright uncontrollable they say no to their enslavement.
