Scene-1
Oh, so you're No.58 they're talking about, eh? You look pretty much a newbie to me. Oh, don't be surprised. It doesn't take an idiot to figure it out, with your suit showing only few sponsors and all. I bet your team are desperate to win this battle race.
What's that? They didn't tell you all of its details? Jeez, your team really IS that desperate! They let you enter without knowing any of the basics! All right, look, I don't talk much to dead meats, but since we got plenty of time left before the game starts I'll let you in on something about this sport. I really hate to earn easy kills with Gunwarriors like you. It's no fun, I tell ya that.
Okay, this is a Battle Race Tournament with participants armed with weapons and their pets. The objective is to reach the finish line with the highest race position, and if possible, still in one piece. The winners will get the biggest prize while the losers get nothing at all. Simple as that. But here's the thing: Once you get killed in the arena, that's that. You're dead. All of the team's money spent on creating you is wasted, and your sponsors will not be happy about that. So better stay alive. Oh, we don't use any vehicles, in case if that's what you're thinking. We're running on foot. Quite exhilarating, if you ask me.
Sponsors, you asked? Well, they're organizations that keep our team going. They provide funds for our ammunition, armor, repairs, well y'know... team stuff. The more you win the race, the more they will be impressed and likely provide more funds. Chances are some new companies will join your team, increasing your reputation. That's a whole lot of cash, reputation and sponsor stickers on your suit!
But enough about that, let's talk about the basics of the sport. We are called Gunwarriors, paid warriors to fight and race in this single lap track arena. We come equipped with this basic Auto-rifle and a Cybapet. But I'll tell you more about the Auto-rifle and Cybapet later, let's talk about stamina first.
All of us have a limited stamina. We use it to Speed Dash and fire our guns. Once it runs out, you're basically doomed. Hm? Pfft, don't fear. The stamina will regain back if you rest still in one place, but that doesn't mean you're safe. You're vulnerable in that state.
The Speed Dash maneuver is quite essential to this sport; it gives you a short burst of speed to avoid projectiles and dive into obstacles and barriers. Though while this is a wonderful thing to do, it wastes a huge portion of your stamina. So don't be foolish into thinking this is the best strategy to reach the finish line quickly.
The Auto-rifle is specially designed to fire concentrated air molecules, we call them Wind Bullets. The wind bullets can really pierce right through your skin and it'll give you friggin' hell. You can fire as many as you want, but you'll deplete your stamina that way. If that happens, rest for a while to regain them back.
Cybapets are your only—and I mean ONLY—friend in the arena. They provide 100% protection for you as they absorb any incoming wind bullets, which is very nice. Hmm? Hehehe, I know that smile. Don't push your luck. Just because they defend you doesn't mean they give you full coverage from multiple attacks in various directions. Don't rely on it too much.
All of the weapon's functions at the starting line are digitally disabled. They will remain like that until the light says "go," you then only have 10 seconds to run and hide before the gun becomes functional. This sport is all about strategy, so don't go happy-go-lucky running ahead in the middle of the track; only morons with a death wish do that. It's kill or be killed out there.
The key to win is to hit 'em and hide. It's best to hide from attacks, yet also not wise to do it most of the time. This is still a race, y'know. Try to keep the lead while keeping yourself alive.
Occasionally items will be dropped in the arena, they can be medkits, special ammunition for your auto-rifle, or stats enhancers. They are also essential for your survival. While it is quite dumb to retrieve them, exposing yourself to the eyes of the opponents, you can command your Cybapet to get them for you. But becareful, once you do that, you left yourself vulnerable too without a Cybapet. So plan carefully.
There're 2 ways to win this race: First is, like I said before, crossing the finish line with a good race position. Second, eliminating all of your opponents. While the latter is quite a great idea, the prize for that is quite, well, small. A quarter of the actual prize amount. But at least you get more money for each body count you scored.
Wish I could tell you more about the items and other things, but that's for another time. Besides, It's not like you'll live long enough after this. Oh, how rude of me. I'm No.47, by the way. An Avian Hybrid, specialized in speed and accuracy.
Well, there goes the alarm, it's time to start. Remember all the things I said? Kinda? That's okay, you'll learn along the way. Don't get into my sights, ya hear?

No.47, that girl with an anger issue.
I made this series a few months ago and it was inspired by various video games that I played before. So I'm pretty sure you can tell the references from.
