I think that this creature should have some special poison ability where you take damage for touching it, since it's diseased and all.
That means that the wizards and archers should go for this one while the close-range fighters would just fight something else, ANYTHING else.

(cool design for a demon though. You wanted it to be gross and really detailed, and you certainly succeeded.)

I think so, too. Some sort of aura of revulsion - if you fail your Fortitude save (or this game's equivalent), you become sickened, just being near it. Chance on hit to burst one of its gross sores, which probably does poison or acid damage (or maybe both :V), also could totally see it being one of those enemies that explode when they die :S x_x
