I had to go through and clean out computers on the work floor at my dad's puzzle factory and half of them haven't been cleaned since the day they were put in use. For some of them that's over 5 years in an environment that is naturally dusty. I had to turn the computers over a trashcan to clean them out because I wouldn't be able to outrun the cloud that would form. I'm not kidding when I say that you could see where I was in the plant by looking for the brown cloud floating up to the ceiling. This computer was actually one of the cleaner ones too.
Sorry about the rotation. My phone doesn't like FA apparently.

Me too but when it's that deep you can't tell if there is something important being sucked up with it. In the factory we still use some veeeeeeerrrrrrry old obsolete systems to control our machines because of how easy they are to set up and reprogram. Along with those some of the wires are pretty sensitive about being moved, so it's best to stay away from vacuums.
Still not as bad as a comp I had to work on. Guy worked at a concrete mixing plant. He calls in saying his PC won't turn on. I go out, open up his shitty old Dell to find that there's nearly seven years' worth of cement dust stopping the CPU fan dead. Had to replace the whole machine.
That I could understand. Cement dust is more dense than cardboard dust so it can easily make things stop. We actually just had a fan die on the main server and I had to replace it without shutting it down. I'm actually getting used to these repairs while the machine is still running because of how frequently I have to do it.
Thinking about main servers reminds me of an old Dell server I have. Y'know, one of those things you have around just to tinker with? PowerEdge 2400 from '01, old piece of shit.
Anyway when you fire that thing up and have the fans set to full speed -all four of them-, it sounds like a friggin' jet starting up.

lol I have one of the exact same systems at work that I'm trying to get home. It used to be the main DHCP, email, time clock, etc... server but now it's been decommissioned and thrown into a storage room. I want to play with it so bad but my dad (who is also my boss) won't let me while I'm on the clock. It also has some old databases on it, so he's even more cautious about what happens to it. I haven't been able to play with windows server yet so I'm kind of eager to try it out.
