BASICALLY the Riemann integration formula says that "Oh, you have a function? Let's draw a bunch of tiny little rectangles that touch the graph on the top left point of the rectangle (undershooting) and on the top right point of the rectangle, and add up all their areas, and then make the rectangles thinner and thinner and thinner to get the area underneath this curve :D
