KH3 Imagined Final Boss Theme Imagined: Pugnalare al Cuore
I tried to capture Yoko Shimomura's style when writing this. I thought it would fit right into the game. From there I decided to make this a mock theme for the final battle in the upcoming game. Let me know if you think it would work or not.

I was sceptical, because I'm not a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack, but your mock-up is actually better in parts than the original soundtrack. The original one is cluttered with layers of artificial instruments that just bleed out blandly, but yours has clarity to it and distinct accents that make it dynamic.
I'm glad you liked it. As for KH, if you don't like the music, perhaps you'll like the redone soundtrack. For the HD collection, the music was done with a real orchestra

This proves that the use of a real orchestra doesn't elevate bad source material :)
After listening to the original soundtrack and going back to yours my opinion that yours is better has strengthened. If I had heard you versions ingame instead of the real ones I would've taken a break to listen to the music :D The original soundtrack creates atmosphere and usually that's all one can ask for, but a good soundtrack should be more than just atmospheric background noise. The fact that I only remember the music of the last part of the final battle proves for me that this piece was actually good and the rest simply forgettable or mediocre at best.
Well, maybe I should state my criteria for a good OST: clear and poignant composition, emphasize on the development of distinct themes and reappearing motifs, faceted use of dynamics, emphasis on the instruments that are used, enough room for every instrument to be noticeable and to contribute to the themes used, surprising use of instruments and surprising changes in themes.
I feel that many of these criteria aren't used in a good way or aren't used at all in the OST of KH. The soundtrack is cluttered, unfocussed, without poignant dynamics, too uniform and generally (and this part is just my personal opinion) too mawkish.
I repeat: yours is better ;)
