It is a well known fact (which nobody knows) that I absolutely adore behemoths from Final Fantasy. So huge, so muscular, such round tummies just begging to be rubbed. After obsessing over the gorgeous beasts to Vandroiy for long enough and providing him an impeccably accurate reference which I may upload as a joke, he drew my character as a behemoth with him lying on its belly rubbing its navel. If I get around to coloring it then there will be fur patterns like my hyena character normally has. I really need to have a behemoth character...

That was more an example idea - Hulk-based stuff. I was gonna say "whenever you got hungry" but that would then dominate your mealtime experiences and deny many of the prey encountered the experience of "normal" Avereth. As much as behemoths arouse me - in a vorish sense - Avereth's is still the belly I want to end up in. :3
So much appeal... X3
They're definitely very intelligent, have been shown able to talk in some cases, are clearly apex predators, and certainly have a physical appeal beinf so naturally muscular.
There is even a plausible way to become one, if far fetched, in the context of Final Fantasy 10. If a person dies there, if there is enough drive in a purpose of theirs it can keep them from having their physical form revert to a spiritual one that goes to their version of the 'afterlife'. Persons with a lot of emotion involved might even become 'fiends' - the monsters of the world, and persons who are persisting after death are referred to as 'unsent', as a summoner's ritual is capable of sending them to the farplane. Long existing unsent can gain enough power to physically alter their own bodies as well.
So if someone were to die who had a very strong purpose in life, with a lot of emotion, he might just be able to bring himself back in the form of a fiend, maybe even a behemoth. I had been thinking he might have died a summoner who was trying just to heal villagers when a behemoth attacks and devours much of the village population, himself included. In a twist of fate his desperate need to keep the behemoth from ever doing that again causes him to return as one himself, or if not that, a lesser fiend that has to work his way towards becoming a behemoth by finding chances to defeat other fiends who are menacing travelers.
