Doesn't that symbol on his hat belong to Armia Krajowa? I believe that I've seen it before when I read about the Warsaw uprising.

My understanding is it represents the whole Polish Underground State, but yeah, I think anyone taking up arms including the Armia Krajowa used it. I'm not an expert, though!

Well, I think it's generally safe to say if he was in the Polish army under the Western Allies or the Soviets, he'd have an actual uniform at least.
