What had driven Skips to be where he was now?
He has made his way through that dense forest silently. By this point, he knew those woods like the back of his paw. He'd been preparing for this, and this was the day his efforts would pay off.
What had driven Skips to abandon all he knew for a life like this?
The cheetah stepped carefully through the foliage. The markings painted onto his arm glowed dimly in the darkness. He had to be careful. This was his one chance. The hunt had to be successful.
Perhaps something happened? Perhaps Skips is stranded and is merely surviving?[i]
He found a tree, covered in moss and vines, covered in shadow. He took a deep breath, and he scaled the tree, his claws helping him keep hold. He sat upon a mossy branch up high and waited. This wasn't just a hunt. It was a trial. A right a passage. A cheetah didn't just have to be fast. A cheetah had to be patient. And so he waited.
[i]Perhaps the world fell apart, and Skips was adapting? Perhaps this was a new world, and there was no home or past to go back to?[i]
His tail twitched. The sunlight changed. What little of it that filtered through the canopy had slowly moved as the sun moved above. Now the light was on him. The blue markings seemed to soak in the light, and they shined brighter. Suddenly, though, he heard it. Unmistakable. The sound of his prey.
[i]But maybe, this isn't Skips at all.
He sat up on his paws, careful not to make a sound.
Maybe this is a completely different world or universe or another life.
The beast came forth below him, unaware of the predator lurking above waiting for his arrival. He readied himself. A grin appeared on his muzzle.
Maybe he liked the hunt. Maybe he lived for it.
His hunting rifle was secure on his back, the strap tight. No, he wasn't going to use it today. Not for this hunt. He reached for a knife strapped to his leg. His tail twitched in anticipation as he crouched.
Maybe this is the real Skips.
And then, he pounced.
So, I'm finally getting around to show y'all Tribal Skips. He's called "Tribal Skips" to differentiate him from the normal cheetah that populated my gallery. And because when I commissioned the picture, I asked the artist to tribalize my character. I'm a big fan of tribal characters throughout FA, and I usually love their stylings, and I just felt a need to have an alternate version of my character. And now I have one, and y'all have no idea how excited I am. Like, seriously.
Anyways, way back in....was it January? I don't know. It was towards the beginning of the spring semester, and it was still freezing outside, and I just got out of my organizational behavior class when I'm browsing dA and find Ahkward offering a couple emergency commissions. I've been wanting to tribalize skips for a long while by that point. In my mind, if I were to do that, there'd be two artists I'd want to go with. One of them was Tatchit for obvious reasons. The second was Ahkward, because she's got a great style all her own. The reason for that is because of this collaboration they did in the past: http://ahkward.deviantart.com/art/S.....sion-383675321 . So, yeah, I had to commissioned one of those artists, and I finally got a chance. (Spolier, I was lucky enough to commission Tatchit later on, and I got her to tribalize Skips as well. Will post that later.)
So, I'm sitting in the business building at school, and I'm pitching the idea of a tribal cheetah to Ahkward. And she's thrilled with the idea! I'm, like, seriously excited because I love it when an artist gets thrilled. Thrilled artists make awesome art. It's a proven fact.
I let Ahkward have freedom with altering the character, mainly because I didn't know how best to tribalize Skips. She livestreamed the process, and I'd watch, and it was very exciting watching it go from sketch to finished product.
Currently, I use this picture as the background on one of my computers. It's quite awesome. Surprisingly good background too, considering all the details in the picture. Seriously, Ahkward has been more than awesome making this, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to commission her. Super big thanks go out to her for making this.
Now, you can probably tell, I definitely plan on getting more tribal skips pictures. Already have one I haven't posted yet! So, this isn't the last you'll see of Tribal Skips.
The little mini story above was just something I slapped together to go along with this picture. Kinda goes along with the story I had in mind for it. But I'm not good at shaping words together to make a good story, so that's all I got for it. Hopefully y'all like it.
Again, big thanks to Ahkward for this! And I hope everyone enjoyed it.
