Following what happened after the mysterious star meteor impacted, Luigi and Toad were regaining consciousness. The two were still disoriented by the blast, but they continued to where the others were in the hopes of making sure they are okay.
Luigi: We're almost at the hill!
Luigi begins running towards everyone else while Toad barely follows close by.
Toad: Wait for me Luigi!
Toad manages to catch up to the green plumber after Luigi stops at the hill.
Toad: Where are they?
Luigi says nothing while his face shows a sign of shock. He points to three small figures on the ground, and Toad see to where he's pointing to. Toad then becomes shocked as well when he realizes that the small figures are Mario and the princesses. However, the two noticed that they are not only smaller but younger too. Upon closer look, they see that the three are now babies.
Luigi: Mario? Peach? Daisy?
The three begin to wake up from their sudden regression. They soon take notice of their surroundings, Luigi and Toad towering over them, and themselves. Shortly after this realization, the three do what infants normally do when in stress.
Mario, Peach, Daisy: WWAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Luigi: Oh no, what do we do!?
Toad: I don't know! There's got to be something we can do to help them!
Toad then sees a piece of the star that fell from the sky.
Toad: Hey Luigi! What if we bring that star piece with us back to the castle?
Luigi: That could work, maybe.
Without further hesitation, Luigi goes toward to the ominous fragment. But upon his approach, he considered the likelihood that he may end up like the others if he were to touch it. Scratching his head in thinking, he pondered a way to pick up the piece. Then the answer came to him as he looked up to his own hat. He took off his hat and grabbed hold of the star piece with no changes happening to him.
Toad: Nice work Luigi, now all we need is a way to bring it with us back to the kingdom.
Toad looks back to the babies and tries to cheer them up.
Luigi looks around and sees the picnic basket still in tact. He went to the basket and placed the piece inside with no problem. The plumber then heads back to Toad and the others.
Luigi: Alrighty, now I'll carry Mario and the star piece, and you carry the princesses.
Toad: Sounds like a plan, I hope we can find a way to turn them back.
The green plumber and the mushroom then proceed to carry the babies and the star piece with them back to the mushroom kingdom. The babies were still crying as they were moving around while being carried by the two.
