I had, and to a large degree still have, the same problem. Try WWAAAYYYYYY Overcompensating. make beefcakes out of geeks and studs out of homely losers. Just REALLY go crazy with it.
Square the shoulders, bulk the chest, tons of extra muscle on the arms and legs, make the face slightly more square, thicker neck..... all the usual tricks.
Have fin with it and know that you're normal. MOST new artists, or even artists that haven't consciously worked on the whole gender issue usually have trouble with one gender or the other. Seeing a girly guy isn't so bad, kinda cute even, but the gender-quirked mega-muscled girls by new artists are... uuhh... scary?
