On this website. I was originally just going to make my own, but the issue was that I had no way of knowing how much fabric I was going to need in order to make it. And you may or may not be aware, but swimwear fabric is super expensive (Like 17 bucks a yard) so I really didn't want to waste any. In the end I figured that since I was going to have to buy a monofin to go inside the tail no matter what I did, I would just buy my first tail along with the monofin and then use the tail I bought to make a base pattern and then make my own from there.

I am currently searching for the materials to make myself an orca tail.

But yeah, most of the models on the website are preteeens but the tails come in adult sizes too, which I was pleasantly surprised about.

The idea of an Orca mermaid really gets to me, since well, Orcas are one of my favorite animals in the world~.

I've got a pretty decent plan in mind for how to make it, I just need to get a hold of the materials I need, preferably for a decent price. The only thing I'm not sure about is how to make a dorsal fin that doesn't flop over sideways in the water...

I hear dorsal fins are tricky.

Like I know how to make one fine, it's the same principle as making the little side fins. The only difference is that it doesn't matter if the side fins lay horizontal because that's how they are supposed to look. It wouldn't even matter if the dorsal fin kind of flopped over if it was a more "fish like" one as opposed to a "whale like" one. But having a floppy whale fin just wouldn't look right.

Ah, I getcha.

I think I'm going to have to find a way to sew the base of the fin up vertically...though I have no idea how that is going to work without ripping the fabric.

I suppose worst-case scenario I just don't have a dorsal fin but I really want to have one.
