I saw this pose in  faint 's ref sheet, and I took it, thinned him down, and made it taller, with smaller muscles, because Faint draws the muscles so BIG! And while there's nothing WRONG with big muscles, Rei is a small guy, but he's tall.
Anyway! I wanted to do a pose like this for a while, but I never had a decent ref, so when Faint posted it, I was like "OMG!!"
So I outlined it, changed his hand (the one that's in a fist) added a trench coat, and combat boots, and voila! An all new version of Rei, and one I might keep around for a while, if I can learn to draw him quickly.
Hard to do a manga series when it takes 45 minutes to draw the hero, ya know?
