Was it the family, the events, or something else that caught your fancy?

The family, the mix of more animalistic traits, and things like that. And I always have a fondness for huskies, and anthros that come in litters.

I really like this one - especially how their social structure and communications are so different from humans, yet very plausible. I'd also like to learn more about this world (and if it involves odd-eyed huskies, so much the better :P).

One thing I can't visualise and would really like to know is whether they're biped or quadruped.

I think I switched back and forth in my mind a few times about that...Rhoda biting Eli and then punching his back, and Kito being able to cover his eye and run away makes them sound bipedal.

That should probably be pinned down if I do much else with the setting. :>

Very interesting. In the first paragraph or two it seemed like they were wild wolves/huskies (a la White Fang or Call Of The Wild), but progressively less so as I read on. I'm not sure if that was intentional or if I just have bad reading comprehension haha. I'm curious to hear more from this story. Does this have anything to do with the anthology stuff you've been working on?

No, this is unrelated..just tossing out some ideas.

I do have some plans for the narrator. But I'm not sure if this is the world she'll actually live in.
