So I've noticed something in the show and that is the lack of earth ponies in the guard. I believe the count has been like, less than five sightings, the vast majority of the guard being composed of pegasi and unicorns. I suppose it really shouldn't be a surprise, but still, I always have felt a little miffed the EUP is lacking in the 'E'.

Wish they'd show some female guards, as there are obviously female members and officers of the Wonderbolts.

Anyhow, I don't have much head canon, but I do have two things thus far. One will be spoken about in future post. The other is about earth pony guards.

While pegasi control the skies and unicorns would provide firepower, I imagine earth ponies, given their brute strength far surpasses the former two, would be the foot soldiers. Berserkers even. Armored in chain mail and heavy leathers to maintain speed and agility, they would still be more extensively covered given the hand to hand (hoof to hoof?) combat. I modeled it off of Norse armor, kinda mish-mashing it and taking artistic license.

I've been wanting to draw this awhile, though, as there's always been a reason Rough Sketch has a sword and shield on her cutie mark with the pencil. The 'Rough' in her name is not related only to her artistic style. I enjoy fighting sword and board myself, so it transferred to her as well!
