A reference for not only one of my alien characters, Haro, but also their typical outfits used in their home planet Lusceonis.
Their outfits are very basic, and it might give the idea that they are a primitive race, but they are very highly advanced. They just don't like clothes that much, mostly in their main planet which has a predominant tropical weather.
There are two main breeds of Retcans, the L. Alpha Retcans like Haro, which usually are slightly bigger, physically stronger and have a shorter coat. Their fur colors are mostly greys, browns and other darker colors, as well as their eyes. Haro is one of the few pure L. Alpha Retcans which have not only white but solid colored coats.
L. Beta Retcans have a double coat, they are smaller most of the times, and it is common for them to have very light colored coats, mostly white. Their eye color will almost always be light blue, silver or other pale colors. They have these adaptations after thousands of years living in the secondary planet called Lusceonis Beta, which is in its majority covered in a perpetual winter.

Well that was an unnecessarily rude way of correcting a typo.
Part of the reason I prefer drawing Retcans is that they're light on clothing and I'm much better with natural bodies. Plus, then it allows you to add details like muscle tone, fur, and various other bodily undulations.
I like the design of the neckwear. Lately I've been getting more interested in jewelry on anthros, especially earrings.

Yeah, and it makes a lot of sense for furred creatures since full clothing would get in the way. And I too love jewelry on them. It's probably what creatures like these would wear as well. I've noticed that in nature there are a lot of creatures attracted to shiny things and I'm sure my Retcans aren't an exception.
I've been seeing this commercial lately for a fake diamond ring that's been reminding me of humans' love for shiny things. I think it's funny that most people would scoff at a fake diamond yet ancient humans would have thought it just as good as long as it was still all sparkly.
I've been considering increasing the Lusairdae's understanding of their world to allow them to produce simple crafted metals to maybe allow them to have some jewelry other than stone bracelets. I don't know what it is about anthros and jewelry, I never used to think about it before. I guess it's sort of like when I discovered how much I like 80's goth. I like Depeche Mode, and I like rats with eyebrow studs.
I've never seen your characters with earrings. Is that a no-go for you?

Earrings are cool with me, but I never thought of an excuse to make them part of either the Evocanis or Retcan culture. However, there is a tribe of aliens in my story that use them. One of my Evos is sort of adopted by them and he had his ears pierced as part of an acceptance ritual.
Earrings do look really nice in my opinion, especially as part of tribal outfits.

Yes I too enjoy tribal dress accessorized with jewelry such as earrings. I'm designing the rival species of the Lusairdae (the kind of creature that confronted young Jeex and Jvaeri in the flashback chapter) and am considering adding some clothing and jewelry.
I think I actually remember that ear piercing storyline now that you mention it, but I think it was in a ref sheet or something since I don't recall actually reading it in the form of a story. If you ever did want to adopt earrings into the other cultures you wouldn't really need an excuse outside of "hey, these are cool." That's the basis of all accessories, after all. But if you needed a better excuse than that, you could always call it some kind of status symbol, coming of a certain age, rank, etc. Of course it's not like you have to consider any of that, ear piercings are not a requirement for your own characters. And using more of them would dampen the effect of the alien ritual you described.
