I'm crossing you in style, Someday
Oh dream maker- you heart breaker
Wherever you're going-
I'm going your way
Two drifters
Off to see the world
There's such a lot of world
To see
We're after the same
Rainbow's end
Waitin' round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon River-
And me.

LET'S GET MERCER UP IN HERE FOR A MINUTE.
Johnny Mercer was the Frank Sinatra of Savannah. The man of 1000 songs, he was more than a lyrical genius and great voice. If you visit Savannah, nearly everywhere you look downtown you'll find homages to him.
Moon River is actually an inlet in the Savannah/Tybee marshes that was affectionately named by Johnny Mercer himself.
Subsequently, on Bay street (the last 'driving' street parallel to the river before River Street) there is a pub called 'Moon River Brewing Company' named after this man's beautiful song. (MRBC is also haunted, as is Churchhill's Pub right down the street)
Nourish Savannah Soap Shop on Broughton sells a two bars of soap named for this Brewery. Apparition Ale and Moon River
In Leopold's, his framed Moon River composed sheet music is framed on the wall, surrounded by framed pictures of the legend.
On Ellis Square at City Market, he has a life-sized statue of himself smiling out over the market, a newspaper in his hand as he leans on a hydrant.
Buried in beautiful Bonaventure cemetary, his humble flat headstone reads his name, and under a line from one of his many songs "And the angels sing"
Mercer House, the house his great grandfather began construction of before the Civil War- still stands on Monterey Square. It now serves as a museum after being owned and lived in by Jim Williams- the man responsible for the saving of nearly 80 buildings in downtown Savannah- he was the biggest private renovator of his time. And Savannah has him to thank for her preserved historic beauty.
There are a lot more but I'm a junkie for Savannah and could write novels about this sort of stuff. I'm heading to a dinner at mum's but afterwards I'll be finishing up commission info organizing and from there I can get started on some workkrkrkrkrkyeee
