This is just the first draft of this story, but it took me two and a half hours two write, so I wanted to show it off. Expect, after I edit this, that this version will be sent to scraps.

What's THIS!?
A writing sample that doesn't involve rape or mind-control of an innocent victim? A story with actually fleshed-out characters in an already established world? A romance story where the couple's feelings for each other are mutual? A story that doesn't make me feel like someone just did something terrible to the English language!?
(Hallelujah Choir begins playing in the background)...EFFORT! HONEST-TO-GOD EFFORT!

Well, I like to think I'm trying to be the literary side of writing...but hey, there is no shame in smut! But I just don't really write it. S'not my thing. Though seriously, this is an...old piece, and I haven't given it an edit now that I'm like...years older than when I wrote it.
Still, thank you for the praise! I'd suggest reading my newer stuff because I feel I've grown. And hey, just the fact that your name is Valeyard is cool to me--but your page and interests are snazzy, too.
Now, care to help me reverse the polarity of the neutron flow?

Don't mind if I do.

I'm not saying that I hate everything that's smutty, just the stuff that doesn't demonstrate a combination of creative thought, interesting characters, and a sense of moral understanding regarding relationships. A lot of stories manage the first one, and plenty even manage the second, but end up devolving into "You know you want it."-"Yeah, actually, I do want it." rape stories where the guy causing the rape basically suffers no serious consequences for his actions...at all. I know that it's kind of unfair to expect everyone on this site to write only literary pieces like this one that demonstrate a more reserved, romantic style of storytelling...
...but it's nice when it happens.
And I admit, I'm not as into Doctor Who as I was when I started out, but I do still like the classic-Who. The Third Doctor will always have a special place in my mind; he was the first Doctor to fight the Master, he had one of my favorite companions working with him, his dress style was awesome, he knew martial-arts, he worked alongside the Brigadier, he used a lot of technology on his adventures, he built two cars, one of which could fly, he had a lovely singing voice, and I just love his style and fashion sense...

Oh, I could go on for days about my dislike of "well it's not rape if I agree halfway through, right?". It's a tired plot that gets trotted out like a sad dancing bear in a vaudeville act. I try to write things that do more than that. All my favourite authors pose big questions, and I'd rather be like them.
Also...man, Doctor Who and I. Woo. I've never felt as strongly about a thing as I do about Doctor Who, some days. I can understand why some people fall in and out of love with it, but I love the essence of the show (even if Steven Moffat has a tough time writing non-fridging women, good god). I can't get over the idea of the triumph of intelligence, it's Robin Hood in Space and I'm not sure I'll ever be as into a thing as I am in to Doctor Who.
That being said, I am also not a fan of crazy folks who can talk about nothing but. I am nothing if not well-rounded.
Also, hi! It's actually very nice to meet someone so eloquent.

W-Well, I'm not sure I'd say 'eloquent,' but thanks.
Anyway, sorry for chattering on about the Third Doctor just now; I guess I can be a bit passionate when I discuss something I enjoy. Also, when I comment on people's work, I prefer to make comments that provide informative feedback or constructive criticism. This applies as much to written works such as this one, and to paintings and photographs that people make. I try to have a bit more class when I leave comments, though I admit my first comment was...kind of thoughtless, and I'm sorry if I came across as rude or inconsiderate by making it.
Oh yeah, I guess you've probably already noticed, but I also tend to apologize way too much...Eheh...

Bah, it's okay! And I do think you're eloquent. You're discussing things rationally, and fully, and I appreciate that a whole lot. If you'd ever like to chat outside of the comments section of a five-year-old story post, I'd honestly really love to get to know you more. =3
Also, you totally didn't come across as rude at all, so don't worry none.
