A nice, decent sized speckled kingsnake I discovered while walking from the mailbox. He disappeared down a burrow at the base of a tree before I could get more photos of him. Kingsnakes are generally good to have around since they prey on venomous snakes like rattlers, copperheads and cottonmouths in addition to other snakes and rodents, lizards and the eggs of reptiles and birds.
