Tylva Gelevour was a soldier within the regiments of city Scarcliff. The city's poverty and constant conflicts caused low wages for the soldiers, putting their lives on the line for only a few mynts in the end. This resulted in a high rate of stealing and looting amongst within the ranks, even from those they were meant to protect. Tylva was disciplined numerous times for this, resulting in the majority of the scars upon her body as the disciplines became more and more violent in an attempt to discourage future crimes. It did not work, and eventually the low wages caused her regiment to defect and leave Scarcliff in order to become soldiers of fortune.

Despite her skills in battle, Tylva never was handed any promotion, due to the crimes performed in duty. As a soldier of fortune, however, this was eventually rectified as she became the bodyguard and right hand woman of the regiment's rogue captain with her effectiveness, hardy toughness and few moral qualms that would make for an ideal mercenary.
