This time a little introductory story into Proteus Brinecraft, The team's resident antisocial smartass.
My apologies for his droning on in the explanation, I was trying to create a viable combat example, but I've never seen any like that so I just didn't know what to do.
Proteus, Mordecai and the Delcatty instructor belong to me,
pokemon is gamefreaks.
Hope you all enjoyed.

Proteus sighed. He shouldn’t be here at all.
“Brinecraft! Maybe you can tell us what you’d do in this situation? You sure seem to be thinking about it hard enough.”
Getting up, it was all the Mantine could do not to scowl at the much older Delcatty. He truly didn’t understand why his mother still made him go to this… this… study group for underachieving warmongers! But still, he guessed he could use the practice. Letting his eyes flick over the blackboard for a second, he took in the entire situation in the time it took him to gather his breath.
“In the situation where an opposing force is charging down an incline such as the one shown, it would be advised to utilize long range tactics on the forerunners and the ground between the two forces, since the enemy would not be able to respond to a sudden obstacle in a downhill charge. Next, while laying down cover fire, the allied force should slowly retreat into the trees, giving the illusion of injury for most of the force. Once out of sight they should then disperse to either side, to catch the remnants of the charging force in a surprise pincer maneuver.”
“That’s… a sound strategy. You may sit.”
Proteus then sat down while taking malicious glee in the scowl his tutor seemed to be trying to refrain. Oh, he knew that strategy wouldn’t be useful all the time, and that were many flaws with it… but she couldn’t criticize it without undermining everything she’d taught them, since it was a level or three higher than what the class as a whole had learned.
//Retreat only situation my tail feathers.// Proteus thought, looking out the window and resuming his thoughts.

“Proteus, wait up!”
“What do you want, Mordecai?” he asked, exasperated. He just wanted to enjoy his summer before he had to go back to school, for Arceus’ sake! He only had four weeks until he began at the Poke-Combat Academy, and he wanted to make the best of it! But no, his mother insisted he partake in these summer classes, and now one of his classmates didn’t want to just let him leave!
The sentret recoiled under the baleful glare he received when the water type turned around, and then sheepishly smiled. “Uhm... I was wondering if you could do me a favor.” He asked, light pink beginning to appear on his features.
“Whatever it is, I’m sure anyone else in the class could handle it better than I.” Was the rapid reply, to which he only got a vigorous “no! You’re the only one!” Shaking his head and sighing, Proteus took the sentret’s hand and half-dragged him until they were outside of the institution. “Now that we’re alone and you can’t make a fool of us both, what’s so important that absolutely need –me- for it?” he asked impatiently. He usually at least managed to –act- social, but today he just wanted to go home.
“Well… Uhm… I heard that you were in the PCA next semester…”
“What of it?”
“And that… you’re teammates with Martine Mallet…”
“If you want me to hook you up, the answer is no.”
The sentret’s entire face was completely red by then, as if the very thought was a sort of great taboo in and of itself.
“N-no!! I… I just want you to… I just want you to give this to her. It’s thanks for when she helped me last month…”
Taking the two tickets Mordecai had produced, Proteus looked at them. “You are invited to the Hoenn National art fare…” He read aloud, stowing the tickets away in his pocket. “Fine. But in return you’ll owe me a favor later. Also, aren’t these incredibly expensive? “
“Y-yes, but my father’s good friends with the organizers, so I got two free tickets. I’m not really into that though, but I thought Martine would like it. “
“You’re giving her two tickets, instead of asking her out?” Proteus asked, since it was quite obvious the sentret was smitten.
“Y-yeah…” Mordecai mumbled, before starting to shift to the side, and then running towards his home.
“Thanks for the favor!!”
Proteus began to walk towards his own residence, looking up at the sky. “A fan then, perhaps?”
Shrugging, the mantine kept walking, taking no notice of the world around him aside from the usual pedestrian hazards as he thought up scenarios and battle plans for his team.

He probably would, antisocial jackass he is. He thinks is someone isn't as interesting as his personal wargames, then they're obviously not worth the effort.
Of course, once he actually starts in the PCA, I'm certain he's going to find a lot of times his tactics aren't going to work perfectly.

No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy!
He might actually want to talk to Thomas then, his specialty is (when he's not running for his life, scared for his life, or crying) watching, reaserching and coming up with counter tactics to turn his opponents own style back against them!
This is the primary reason Team Neon always does everything they can (for offical graded bouts anyway) to be the ones to choose the pairing, with Thomas's tactics, Husk's knowledge, and Nina's information gathering abilities backing them up they have actually start to climb the ranks!
....whew that was a mouthful...

Always have a back-up for your back-up plan.
I'm certain he would find Thomas and Husk to be interesting to talk to, though Ella's not usually far behind, and I think his reaction to her would be... unfavorable. Of course he'd still be polite as ever, but the seething undercurrent of his words would... probably not even reach her at all, would it?

It depends, she's a bit behind in her aura abilities but one talent she has is the power to be able to Detect the intent of people she talks with or is in close contact, even if she has no concious idea she's doing this. If he actually had something unpleasent planed or some such thing she'd nearlly imediatly get a "Bad Vibe" from him, other wise any venom in his words has about the same chance of reaching her as Nina has of giving up gossip.
*laughs* Unless it's an actually palable threat of harming her or one of her friends or a particularlly vicious insult she won't notice. Propably due to the fact that he talks with Thomas and Husk she'll assume he's there friend and in turn consider him her friend as well. That ought to irritate him to no end.
HE's a special kind of antisocial, is all. He figures that if he -tries- to be antisocial, people will still bug him, just for the sake of it.
So because of that, Proteus acts like a polite, shy person, just distant enough that people don't make bonds with him too easily, but normal enough that he isn't labeled like an outcast and thus persecuted by any number of bullies. (Since that would be even more troublesome)
So yes, he would be irritated by it. Would be interesting to write, but he'd be irritated.

Ella is everybodies friend, they just don't know it yet! The only people she honestly can't stand are bullies, manipulators, and there's a couple of students that give her a "Bad Vibe" but she's not sure why.
The funniest part would be the fact that Ella would be able to tells something wrong with him and would then try to "Cheer" him up. Oh I chuckle just think about the outcome of that little fiasco.

Were talking the people who use people in mass then dump them like used hankies. Let's just say someone saw Thomas's talent for tactics last year and when quite a ways to get him to come to her team, to say the least nether Thomas nor Ella apriciated it.
Well, Ella's persistent no matter what you do. It's one of her indearing traits, and he could try the romance thing but that isn't going to work for several reasons, some of which will be reaveled soon/

If he ever learns Surf, Whirlpool, Waterfall, or anything like it he could send her in to screaming, crying, and curling to the fetal postion. Then Thomas would wack him and demand to know what's his problem!
Ella's fear is anouther reason Team Neon will always strive to be the ones who get to pick who fights agains who.

Hhhmmmm, of couse that means if Team Ripple faced Team Neon he would most likely get Ella. I would looove to see that fight!
Ella: Nice Bubblebeam! You leaned a little too much to te left though!
or
Ella: Wow! That Aerial Ace really hurt! That was great! You had so much power and control with it!

Oh, he wouldn't like that. He's the guy who tells others how to fight, the reputed 'tactical genius (or so he says)'. That would probably have him flying off the deep end.
So the match takes what... 40 seconds in all? Actually, Fenrir would probably manage to get him to calm down. That's what he's there for, after all.

Well when you lose your cool you lose a match, that and Ella is an exprienced enough fighter that the minute he lost his temper fully and gave her that opening she would be on him like that!
Then after the fight she would walk up to him, smile extend a paw for a handshake, and say "Great fight!" .... let's hope Fenrir can hold him back...

Poor Thomas, he's the only one on the team who isn't weak to fire types.
Thomas: *thinking* Oh Arceus anouther growleth, lets see. Buff pyshical body, so he propably relies on pyshical moves. Best plan here is to stay out of reach, strike when I can, wear him down, and pray that his Ember, Flamethrower, whatever it is he uses has poor aim, I hope. Uhg, I always have to face the fire types, and I just can't stand the smell of burned fur.

Yep ,this is only best case for Team Neon, who would also try to set it up to suit there strengths. So it would be a challenge of who sets it up better, or they propably screw each others attemps up and when the time comes no body knows who's going first. I can just see that.
Thomas: But I though you were going first!
Nina: Me! It was Husk who's suppose to go out there!
Husk: ... I was under the impression that Ella was our first combatant.
Ella: *shrugs*

Husk: ... I was under the impression that Ella was our first combatant.
Ella: *shrugs*
Thomas: Call it weird if you want but up till I came here Ella was my only friend, nearly everyone else hated and shunned me to varying degrees.. *manages to move to a sitting postion* After I got over the weirdness of the campus I actually managed to make friends and meet interesting people... you for instance.
Thomas: Maybe, but take this simario. Ella being a Lucario accidentally had to face a Charmelion last year. It was a close fight and it was coming down to the end, the charmelion unleashed a Flamthrower that for all we knew could have taken Ella down, now is a situation like that what would you advise doing?
Proteus: *smiles* Of course the obvious answer to to just try and dodge the attack. However, this leaves you open for a second blast. The other option is to jump into and through the flame, hoping you have enough left in you to take the attack. Of course, since you're going forwards, you actually touch less of the flame than a full on blow. That, and virtually no opponent in the world would expect an attack from there, at least not at this level. This would give you the win.
Thomas: Bravo! Beautiful grasp of the situation! But I wasn't done, Ella had already taken a direct Rock Smash from this guy and her only effective attack agains him, Bone Rush, wasn't enough to take him out by itself. She also knew he had the ability to use Slash and Fire Punch cause he had grazed her with them earlier. So, in escenes she was on her last legs and he was holding all the cards. Now with this in your head and knowing the Flamethrowers coming, what would the smart thing to do be?
Proteus: With a lucario's speed... I think perhaps the best thing to finish the fight, in my opinion, would be to rush the attack, and then slide under the flamethrower. Seeing as how charmeleons use it from their mouth, they can't see anything under it. This would give her the opportunity to sweep out his legs from under him, and with a bone rush on the way down, hopefully finish him before he got up.
Thomas: That's one theory...
Ella: *suddenly sitting about three steps up the stairs above them, with most of the Pichu in tow* Why are you guys just laying at the bottom of the stairs like this?
Thomas: *use to her popping up like that* ...but Ella can find a way to suprise you.

Thomas: *use to her popping up like that* ...but Ella can find a way to suprise you.
Proteus: Of course It's' completely idiotic to measure yourself against someone without reason. It's a waste of resources, after all. But I do see the benefit in having someone of equal skill to test myself against, so long as I remember to analyze the information later and learn from it. Then again, I'm certain that once school starts I'll have much more information available to me than I'll know what to do with.
Nevertheless, someday I'd like to challenge you to a chess match, or, barring that, your team to a match. I'm certain the results would be... interesting.

Thomas: Very true as for the chess match *smiles* I'd like that... as for the team match you would have to talk to Ella...
Ella: *laughing and managing to balance three Pichu on her head (one on the top and two holding onto each ear)*
Thomas: ....not the most dignified moment to be sure. None the less she's the leader and she must be the one to official a match.

Proteus: I'll hold you to that then... Maybe over some white lily tea... hm...
Ah yes... If I must...
Ella, what would you think about a practice match? Nothing to decide right now, of course, as I'd need to speak with my own team leader, but I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts. *cringes at the bitter taste of those last words*
