I've decided to try and develop a more painterly style, This is my first attempt out of what I hope will be many.
I'm so used to using pressure to control line thickness, but with paintbrush tools, you're controling opacity, and that's super weird feeling.
Done in the GIMP over two days, used a colour palette pulled from a Frank Frazetta cover.

Raaawr! Beware the Orca! The colors do look pretty good here. I feel a sense of energy in the atmosphere!
If you're having trouble with the pressure settings of opacity you can try turning that feature of (if possible in GIMP) then just manually adjust the opacity so it's always a constant when you paint. I heard that tip from the concept artist/teacher Feng Zhu from the FZDSchool channel over at youtube. It allows for constant values during painting.
Keep at it Ryan!
