So, as some of you may have heard, there's this new raster graphics editor on the scene, called Krita. Well, it's not exactly new, since the first version came out 9 years ago. But it's only recently that it's gained some popularity.
I thought I'd give it a try, and got it for myself. Messed around with all the cool brushes, then wondered what I could draw in it. Figured I could draw Flare as an initiation. Then I thought it well to make the drawing relevant, and added the silly dialogue. Started out as a simple sketch, but sometimes I just get carried away, y'know.
(The lil Lurigo there in the corner was a last minute addition)
Anywho, I absolutely love Krita! It's kinda what you'd get if you were to mix Photoshop and SAI. Best of all, it's free! Should be using it more often in the future.
There's currently a Kickstarter for version 2.9. It's for funding the development of additional features. Head on over there, throw an euro or five at them, really excellent piece of software they've created.

If you go into Settings, Configure Krita, do you see an option for OpenGL, and is it turned on?
If not, switch it on, should have a performance improvement.
if it is switched on, what level of filtering? "High Quality filtering" can be a bit slow (but higher quality scaling)
Is it a 5 second delay with the brush stationary, or could the brush you're using require some movement for it to work out what to do at the start of the stroke? I have seen odd behavior where one custom brush trailed the pointer consistently, but never worked out what setting I might need to play with.

I wonder if mine is outdated possibly?
I have had this for several months now, when I go into settings I only have a "Configure shortcuts" and "Configure Toolbars"
No OpenGL option can be found at all (Unless Im in the wrong place but I think Im somewhat computer saavy to some point ._. )
Its like a 5 second delay when I actually start to paint, the brush itself moves but its like it is on constant stabilize or something.

Awesome :D
Also, the shortcuts for canvas controls are a little confusingly under "Configure Krita" then "Canvas Input" - confused me too :D
Also, if your Krita is a few months old, it's already a little out of date - recently it gained a neat Stabilizer smoothing option, HDR painting wit the LUT docker, and various improvements.
(also, possibly, a change to the shortcut for "Redo" - think i's changed from Ctrl+Y to Ctrl+Shift+Z)
