your comment reminds me of the comic Goblins. It's a D&D comic where the characters kinda break the fourth wall with D&D talk (like the guards chatting about a dwarf who took a dump in the corner while they were resting in the dungeon and got enough roleplay XP to level up). This idea basically happens to the goblins after one thinks up "hey, we can disguise ourselves as humans! Look, I even made up my own character sheet" and they're like "wait, we can take character levels?" and they start adventuring XD
