Hmm... I didn't tell anyone else the back-story about their relationship either, it seems.
In his later teens, Shawn left the safety of the Ice Palace, where his "brother" Yan and his foster mother Mint resided, to travel and make his mark in the world. He had studied and trained a good deal in the arcane magics and was quite a skilled warrior. While on his journey, the Great Chaos War had erupted. He met up with Yan along the way again and the two of them took out a group of the Vox's elite troops.
Enter Andrea, long-lost sister of James Loupe. She had been forced into slavery since she was born, knowing no other life than to serve obediently and silently. Needless to say she did not have the best treatment while in capture. In her late teens as well, she was then being chained and forced to be a flag-bearing for an elite group of Vox's special task force.
Boy meets girl. Freeing her from her slavery, and taking care in reviving her from her malnourished and collapsing state, Shawn felt a connection with her somehow, perhaps because he too was in slavery for part of his childhood. In any case, without the knowledge of any other life, Andrea showed her appreciation by willingly becoming his slave. She calls him "Master" all the time, though he's told her not too. Through many trials and tribulations, their story is one of unspoken but very powerful love for each other.
