I got my lovely tagua pendants in from
foxfeather and have been busily putting together necklaces over the last few days. It's been a real labor of love, and my hands are really raw. . . but here are the results!
From left to right -
Ransom - Coyote/Tree
Puck - Fox/Flower
Shivah - Bobcat/Crow
Unfortunately due to the sheer cost of materials and the time these have taken, I will have a very limited supply available at Anthrocon. And due to some beads being especially hard to find, some will have slightly different beads in the midsection. . . but most will pretty much resemble what you see here.
These necklaces are made almost entirely of natural materials. They are strung on leather cording and simply knotted, the beads are made of horn, pewter and wood, and the pendants are made of Tagua. I'm going to quote Foxfeather directly here - Tagua is essentially natural ivory. It's the nut of the rainforest palm tree, and is a naturally renewable resource with many qualities similar to animal ivory. The totems inscribed in these tagua pendants are designs made specifically for the three main characters from 'Off the Beaten Path', and are only available in this small run. I'm not certain I'll ever have the resources to have these made again.
I plan to have probably eight of each available at the convention, and while I don't expect a rush on these due to their expense ($60 per necklace), if you absolutely have to have one and you want to be CERTAIN you get one, I'm taking pre-orders now.
I'm limiting pre-orders just in case to four of each kind, so I'll at least have half of them for sale at the con. If you're interested in one or more of these necklaces for pre-order, please shoot me an e-mail at rukiscroax[at]hotmail.com
I can ship if necessary

No, no. . .
foxfeather physically made the pendants, I just designed them and made the necklaces. Leather cording scrapes your hands raw if you work with it enough, that's why my hands are busted up : P

Do you by chance plan on making designs in this vein for other characters in the red lantern "verse"? And are any of these three still available by chance? It would be cool just seeing similar designs for other characters like Luther, Amon, Dhaval, Lucius, Delilah, Johannes, and The Madame. It would also be really nice to see Grant and Magpie. Xs Maybe even a compendium of some sort with symbolic depictions of many main characters? It could even be a series character guide of sorts, or further fleshed out into a sort of guide with a world map, and more detailed maps of certain plot specific regions, maybe even cities and residences. I dunno, food for thought I guess. I absolutely love the series, and have made a point to read every chapter, and journal, or view all pictures related to this series, cannon or otherwise. I have both books and of course the first issue of the comic, and eagerly await any and all updates to any of the pending stories in this series. You have created something truly special here, that for me.is greater then any of the Harry Potters, Hunger Game, or other popular fiction with wonderful life changing memorable characters. I have connected more to the characters of this world then any of those books, or anything like the Redwall series by Brian Jacques, or the warriors series by Erin Hunter. I really honestly believe that somehow, against all odds have created a classic series that can easily stand with the greats and superceed most all of them. You certainly have my heart invested. You are my favorite writer, and visual artist, and are able to apply both skills with such wonderful heartfelt down-to-earth charm and blunt honesty that I can't help but connect to what you have made here in the form of this series. It would be so cool if you could find some way to get more merchandise made...I honestly wish I could be the one to have the money to back such and endeavor...I do know a jewlrey maker and a cloth-working /knitter/ crafty wonderful woman who could help, but they likely would not stand the test of quality that your series deserves. Well, regardless of all that, I will be here for years to come, anxiously awaiting you latest endeavors, whether they be in this universe, or some new fangled one you have yet to invent! I can't wait to see what you do next! You work so hard and constantly surprise with wit and depth. Maybe someday you could be known outside the furry community. I know I look up to you as a writer and sortof advertise your stuff on facebook when a new book comes out, or at least I have started to...you are a talent worth sharing, and you enrich my life and your own writing has helped me through so so much, starting with Marcus and Reis, of whose relevant comics I also own, and leading up to Amon, Dhaval and Luther, and all the people connected to them, as well as Shiva and Grant, who will likely be permanatly in the background of my laptop and smartphone. Thank you for making such engaging and relatable stories. You have greatly helped me feel comfortable in my own skin, and I aspire to follow in your footsteps someday with novels of my own, dealing with similar undertones of being gay in an unaccepting cruel world, with few choices in friends and lovers, and still flourishing all while dealing with much greater and more poignant circumstances, though mine is sci-fi with dragons and related reptilians, with bat-like creatures as adversaries, in a world that is utterly made of technology. Nearly a polar opposite to your own story universe. XP Hopefully, I can muster up the strength and courage to hone my craft, and push for publishing my own work someday, somehow. All I can say, is thank you. (I hope this wasn't too convoluted, and I apologize for getting so far off track, but I really am quite passionate about your work, and wish you the best of luck. Hopefully someday you may be able to work on a character guide complete with pictures, more of the wonderful tribal ink designs featured on these necklaces, and character bios. I know it would be a lot of work, but I just want to simply state that there totally is interest in such a thing being made!~ Rambling again. -_- )
