This is a replica of a Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX from the n°341sqn of the RAF, this squadron it's more famous under the name of "Lorraine"; actually, this Squadron is one of the french fighters squadrons into the RAF during the WWII.
I don't know the true history of the real Spitfire ML407 NL*D but I know there was a spitfire Mk.I with the same code which was the first british fighter between the hands of Pierre Clostermann, the best French WWII ace. There also are a biplace Spitfire Mk.IX which have the same immatriculation (ML407) which always fly at Duxford if I'm not wrong.
I also want share the link for a website on the one you could found a lot of informations like units of a lot Air forces during WWII, all the aces of the WWII and a lot of other things which could help you in your work. (The website is in french but you could change the language)
