MLP Design Trade with  nightfeathers

So I spent my entire afternoon inking several commissions so I can whip out colors quickly throughout the week. After a long night of inking and not much else, I needed a change. Since my friend NF was complaining she was bored, I figured I'd do another pony swap! We've done them in the past and it was always a lotta fun XD

The name she gave me was Starry Soul, and the main reason for it was because she wanted to use the name but had no idea where to start with designing a pony with the name. XD Yay for the hard task coming to me, but I was up to the challenge!

I started with deciding between uni and pegasus, I had ideas for both. I figured she might be a rather dainty character and so I wanted to go uni for her(not that pegs can't be dainty...) Once that was decided, I knew I wanted to add some star shaped bling on her. I mean if a pony's name is "Starry Soul" and they don't wear anything with stars, that's just sad! I had originally wanted to give her a piece of chest armor, but the more I sketched it the more brutish she looked and it just didn't suit her character so that was scrapped.

It was then that I had a sorta epiphany about the most epic hairstyle ever LOL I designed her hair to look like shooting star trails coming from her star shaped hair clips. Both her bangs and her tail take this shape. It made me giggle once I sketched it cause I loved the idea too much. XD

Then I started to think about her name and possible cutie marks and talents. I decided that she was going to be a rather special unicorn. figured her special talent would be extracting the magic out of stardust. She's one of the few uni's who can track down and find stars where they hit the planet's surface and she collects the stardust and extracts the magical essence from it. So I decided to add a necklace with a small vial of stardust, the dust remaining from the first star she ever tracked down the day she received her cutie mark. The cutie mark itself is a star dripping star dust, and to accent the "soul" part of her name, a pair of angel wings.

So yeah, a long day of inking but an epic pony for the result of it! Originally her hair was a brighter array of yellow and gold, but she looked too much like Cloud Kicker the background pony so I dulled it down to keep the starry feel. ^^

I did get the a-ok to design a sister for her with a similar hairstyle since I said I loved the idea too much and almost kept her for myself LOL. So you'll probably see a sister from her sometime soon.
