Long time no post, huh?
I just got my new Intuos Pro yesterday (I really needed an upgrade from my 5-year-old Bamboo Fun), and it's absolutely fantastic. Wanted to try it out, so I did this piece. Used Giri, of course, because he's an easy character to draw and experiment with. No real story behind this piece.
I really experimented with style on this piece. Thinner lineart, more facial details, and the shading especially. Not sure I'm totally sold on it (the shading that is), as I ended up using a mixture of cellshading and soft highlights, but whatever, I'm relatively content with it. The piece was originally going to contain lots of flames and such, but I ended up ditching that idea for my classic dramatic blue shading and white background. Boring, I know, but I was lazy. Though I'm happy enough with the lineart and base colors that I may go back and do a second version of this piece with the warm colors and flames. Another thing I experimented with is Giri's tuft of fur on his forehead, and I kinda like how it looks here, so I may end up keeping it that way.
Wow, that is one longass description.
Art and stuff belongs to me yada yada yada.
