It's a simple fact that most people can't deal with their own weaknesses, inadequacies, or failings. Usually we try and fudge over them. So when blatently confronted with them, rare is the mind that can accept the truth. More often it simply... breaks.

Powerful. Detailed. Touching. Interesting. A masterpiece, in my opinion, I haven't read this good amateur prose in a long time. Shame it hasn't more comments on it. Guess the users here at FA aren't that fond of the longer stories. But I found this entertaining and interesting, as the story describes the struggle, both outer and inner, as Peter trudges through the rock land. Very interesting, the story is told in many levels, inside Peter's head, outside, telling his actions and then telling anecdotes, little glimpses from his past, these sort of anchor him between the past and future. Great short story, I truly enjoyed reading this.
