Haven't had the inspiration to draw much lately, so I've mostly been working on my writing. I apologize to those I owe art trades to, I'll try and get to work on them as soon as I can, just been busy with real life.
This is actually my first short mpreg story for Silverwing.
Some may not have an interest in mpreg, but I hope most of you like it! I think I may make more of these in the future.
No matter how many times he has seen it, no matter which part of the day it was, it was always beautiful. He loved how the sun’s light would warm his fur, its bright glow making his blonde hair seem brighter and more vibrant to most bats eyes. Shade couldn’t help but let out a quiet chuckle, leaning against the wall of the bark as he watched the sunset. Throughout his colony he would always receive numerous positive comments on his appearance, each one given to him with a smile. Most of which made him red in the cheeks whenever he heard them, and his mate, Marina, adding her own positive attention.
From what he could remember, it was about him having a ‘healthy glow’ about him, and others saying that he had to be the luckiest male in the colony to have such a caring and loving wife, something that the Brightwing took in proudly and modestly.
Shade felt his cheeks warm up as he looked down at his abdomen, smiling as he gave it a few tender rubs. His belly had grown quite round during the past few months, something that went unnoticed until he got into the second trimester of his first and newly unexpected pregnancy. Shade had no idea how this was even possible in the first place, thinking that it was always be the females that bore children and the males helped father them before and after they were born. Though as of the present, it was the complete opposite, for both him and Marina. But if he had to be honest and true to himself, it felt…right. Like it was meant to be like this.
A yawn sounded behind him, before a voice made him jump, “Shade? Is everything alright?”
He didn’t even hear any wing beats, but gave a smile when he recognized the beautiful bat before him. With a slight huff, Shade stood up and cradled his belly carefully, “I’m fine, Marina. Just couldn’t sleep anymore.” He said, quickly glancing down at his unborn pup with a grin, then back to his mate, “Why are you up so early? The sun’s just barely setting.” He added, noticing how tired she looked. His question only earned him a smirk from the female.
“Oh, really? Says the one who’s awake way before the rest of the colony even opens their eyes.” Marina spoke as she stepped up to him, giving him a tender kiss on the cheek, “Did you wake up on your own? Or…?” She trailed off, using her eyes to gesture to Shade’s swollen middle. Before he could answer, he gave a slight wince and twitch, putting a claw to his belly when he felt a familiar flutter of movement. He grinned widely, rolling his eyes as he blushed even deeper. The reaction was noticed, however, as Marina laid her claws onto his belly tenderly. She gave a soft giggle as the kicks became more active, as if the unborn pup within could sense it’s mothers’ presence, making Shade’s stomach bulge and move in different areas. All this new flurry of movement made the blonde Silverwing’s cheeks burn brighter. The feeling was slightly ticklish, too. He gave a warm chuckle as their pup wriggled and kicked.
“Yeah, pretty much. It’s been getting even more active lately. The other females say that it’s a good sign.” He said, giving a paternal smile, letting his mate feel and rub his belly as she had a bright smile of her own, “Even if it means it wakes you up hours before the sun sets. But, I’m not complaining.” He said, putting his claws on his hips, looking down at the swell of his stomach.
“Neither am I, Shade.” Marina added, smiling as she looked into her mate’s eyes, “And honestly, I kind of like looking after you. It’s cute and kind of funny when you think about it.” She giggled, “Usually, it’s the males that take care of their mates, right? But with us, it’s the other way around.”
'I was just thinking the same thing', Shade thought to himself in amusement, but he also had to agree with her. Though he wouldn’t use the word cute, he found the entire experience greatly enjoyable. When his belly began to poke out more noticeably, Marina had taken it upon herself to be by his side at all times, treating him like he was made of glass. While it annoyed him at first to be guarded and watched all the time, he eventually warmed up to the company of his mate, and numerous positive benefits had arisen from his newfound pregnancy. On several occasions, he would find himself on the receiving end of the softest and, in his opinion, warmest belly rubs and cuddles in his life. Now he knew how the females felt when their mate’s would fawn over them when a pup grew and matured inside them.
It was absolutely beautiful. Shade had lost track at how many times Marina would tenderly nuzzle and kiss his swollen belly whenever the pup became active. But it was one of the moments he loved most. Both of them would be warmed by each other’s body’s, Marina would rest a wing gently across his stomach, her head leaning on his chest, while he propped himself against the wall, a rolled up leaf providing a comfortable pillow whenever they would nap or sleep together. Shade couldn’t help but smile at these moments, knowing that any day now, he would give birth to their own son or daughter. This whole experience for him…he had to agree with himself on one thing. It was truly an amazing feeling.
“Shade?” Marina’s voice caused Shade blink in confusion.
“Huh, what? I-I’m sorry, Marina, I…guess I spaced out. What did you say?” He turned to his mate, who looked slightly annoyed that he wasn’t paying attention before, but then let a smile grace her lips as she moved behind him, cradling his belly lovingly.
“I was asking you if you figured out any names yet for our pup.” Marina asked him, resting her chin on his shoulder and gazing into his eyes in soft wonder. This question lead to Shade making a smile of his own.
“I was thinking…if it’s a girl…we can call her Luna.”
The Brightwing smiled brighter, “That’s a beautiful name. But what if it’s a boy?”
“A boy?” Shade raised an eyebrow. He thought about it for the past few months, but only one name stuck with him, and he thought it would be perfect. Though he hadn’t yet confirmed it with his mate. “A boy.” He whispered softly, looking down at his belly, laying his claws on it with all the loving care of an expectant mother. Marina did the same, but she laid her own claws on top of his.
Closing his eyes, Shade let himself enjoy the warmth that his belly seemed to emanate, and breathed in deeply. Sighing in content and comfort.
“Griffin.” He finally uttered, smiling as he felt the pup move again.
“We’ll name him Griffin.”
