I have wanted an industrial for so long now. Did it hurt? Or was it about the same feeling as getting normal ear lobe piercing?
I have been contemplating it for some time now because of that curiosity.

well for me the first pierce wasn't bad, it was what i was expecting, like normal lobe pierce, but the second i wasn't ready for and not what i expected and it hurt and could feel the sharp gouger go through the lobe feeling the little pockets of air in the cartilage get popped. It bled for a minute then started to clot and i was able to go, but my only concern is its still bleeding a little. i haven't touched the piercing to clean it or moved the bar and one of the holes just likes coming un-scabbed i guess and bled for a little. no major pain just a times a little throb reminding of what i did. also didn't take into account that its my right ear, the ear i normally sleep on at night or the ear i hold my phone to, so i have had to do those things on my left ear. So if you do get the piercing be sure you think about it and dont do both ears at the same time either, the guy told me about someone he pierced that did it and they had a really hard time. And it apparently takes 6-9 months to heal, which seems like forever right now. And since these piercing are pricey, really think about it before you do it.
