This is a reproduction M31 bread bag, authentic in construction and materials, but those zinc buttons would have patina by now and I actually own an example that looks exactly like yours. I hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Its really a reproduction that has been used very lightly. Its too crisp to be an original, my dad has an original that was never issued and its light years away from being this perfect. I could probably find out who made it just by its construction, but it just doesn't fit the bill to be a war time bread bag.

date on it says 44 but eh ppl can fake that too-shrugs-

If it looks really fresh (if its ink or leather stamped), then it might be repro. Looking on ebay for original bread bags and condition of fabric apparently doesn't matter much as I have seen some really crisp clean unissued bags, but there are two things that make an original "original". The metal clip that hooks on the belt should be dull or may have rust/patina on it, and the leather should have a aged/worn brown look such as this example here. Buttons could be in any condition, but its the way the thread looks if it hasn't been disturbed since its been sewn on.

But the amazing thing tho is the prices for original and reproduction don't differ much, but some German reenactors would pass on a 10 year old bread bag as original and sell it to someone for a little more than what he paid for. But still the only thing that would make it more harder to pass as one is the condition of the leather and metal pieces where else the fabric would do all the work to make it look old.
