More practice before committing to doing wet plate it in the field at Anthrocon.
Testing out my homemade half plate holder. I'm glad it worked out, with the half plate holder I can bring my 5x7 camera instead of 8x10 beast (six pounds instead of 18 pounds of camera and lens.)
8 second exposure. Collodion on aluminum.

I really like the umh... odd kind of contrasts in this style. I think maybe has something to do with the way the colors are recorded? I'm trying to say kind of the way panchromatic b/w "sees" colors vs the way orthochromatic "sees" colrs, etc. Not sure of the proper term for that.
It will be interesting to see how things turn out at AC. How's the depth of field for these exposures? Rooftop locations would be awesome backgrounds if you can amanage a deep depth of field

Yeah, orthochromatic. Light blues will turn out white, reds will turn black. Here the pump and flower box are dark green.
Not a great plate. I'm trying a new collodion formula, fixed the veiling problem but now I'm having problems with contrast. I'm going to be shooting my road kit this weekend as a 'tune up' for AC. Hopefully I'll be good to go.
