Thanks for the explanation on the mourning band. Otherwise I likely would have asked about it.

We simply refer to those as blue pins. They state that you're a graduate of the full time academy. We also have green pins which indicate that you graduated from the reserve officer school. The two cadets who received them are tuition students, they are going through the academy on their own dime. We started out with 6 tuition students but 4 of them were hired by various agencies while they were in the academy.

On the subject of the mourning band, I thought that we should all wear one in support of our classmate but my opinion was overruled.

That was something I forgot to ask about the self sponsored graduates, good on them!!

Too bad we don't have such a thing as badges :) But heck we at least got new uniforms released / presented today :D

Those are some nice looking uniforms. How do you like the outer carriers? We're supposed to be switching to them in the near future.
Can I ask what your department issues for side arms? in looks like there are a couple of different models in some of the pictures.

As for the outer carriers are way better, can be used to store stuff in / on and better heat dissipation.

As for our sidearms, we are currently replacing all Walther P5's with Walther P99Q's. Thats why both are visible on the pic's. :)

Who's 7 point star badge? My badge was a 7 point star. You don't see many like it, unless you're in Vegas. *giggles*

That's one of the Sheriffs deputies that was in my class. Some variation of the 7 point start is pretty common here for the various county sheriffs offices

My department originated as special deputies and then became special municipal police, but we kept the county tan pants, navy shirts and our special 7 point badges.
