Overview
The VF-225 Raven Air/Space superiority fighter is the most advanced fighter in Hollocahn's arsenal. Like most of their equipment, the Raven is supplied by Omni Corp. and its subsidiaries. It was introduced around 60 years ago to replace the military's aging fleet of VF-205 Vultures, now relegated strictly to ground attack roles. It has since proven itself a worthy fighter, only 2 have ever been shot down by enemy fire. It is a potent symbol of Hollocahn might and technology.
Airframe:
The Raven was designed to be equally proficient in atmospheric combat as in space. Thrust vectoring and forward swept wings give it unmatched maneuverability in the air. Most notably, the wings are able to fold forward and coupled with the fighter's scram jets can cruse at a maximum speed of Mach 14.4 in an atmosphere. In space, the Raven's powerful HPSL-89X Plasma Drives can accelerate it to Mach 30+ without having to fold the wings. The Raven is surprisingly rugged. Most of the material is a carbon composite able to resist the intense heat produced by hypersonic atmospheric flights. Under the carbon composite is a rigid titanium/inerdium frame.
Weapons:
The Raven's primary weapons are it's missiles that are stored internally in it's missile bay. Comet-2 missiles for air to air and Meteor-3 missiles for air to ground. The Raven is also equipped with twin coil guns with 400 rounds each. 8 retractable hardpoints mounted on 4 pylons are located on the wings. Each pylon can equip either two missiles/bombs or a single gun pod.
Quint Maroo:
The Raven has produced many aces but none come close to skill and natural talent of Quint Maroo. Over his 30 year career he has racked up 1266 kills, most in the Hollocahn Earth conflict. Quint flies a specially modified Raven official designated the VF-225X Black Raven. Painted a lacquer black it also has an increased ammo capacity for its guns and improved plasma drives. He flies for the 252nd Raven squadron nicknamed the "Silver Ravens" under the command of Admiral Asher.
