Bakeneko, 'changing cats', are yokai from japanese folklore with similar abilities to tanuki and kitsune. They used to be regular cats before they became too large and their tails split, giving them the ability to talk, shapeshift, and some even say they can raise the dead by jumping over a corpse.

Some bakeneko haunt their previous owners, some even transforming and taking their owner's place. Others are more benevolent and protect their old owners instead!
What kind of bakeneko are these two? That's up to you! You're free to develop their characters as you wish.
